This was my set opening up for Truth on November 24, 2017 at Monkey Loft in Seattle! So many people asked to listen that I though I would just give my set a home here  on Soundcloud. Welcome to Peace Portal this Friday night! This month's mix is pure vibes yo!

Lauren Taylor, aka @korrathekid, is a Bellingham resident who frequents Seattle to perform at various venues in the area. After sharing the stage with big name artists such as Kll Smth, Holly, and Truth, Lauren is DJ who has become fluent in the many genres of underground bass. Korra the Kid is a name that is synonymous with clean transitions, expert song selection, and unique mash ups. Having mixed for over four years and performed at prestigious venues such as Kremwerk, Q Nightclub, and The Wild Buffalo, it is clear her mixing style is the product of practice and an understanding of the underground music scene.

What have you been up to?
I was lucky enough to play 5 shows last month in both Bellingham and Seattle! Somehow in the last 2 months my bookings have grown exponentially, which is awesome, but also stressful! Most of this stress has been from transitioning from my trusty Traktor s4 over to CDJS. Playing at Q Nightclub opening up for Holly and Wick-it the Investigator and playing the Wild Buff for the first time were definitely a highlights. 

How and where did you record your mix?	
I recorded this mix in my room with my s4, a macbook pro, and traktor. 

Tell us a bit about the mix!
I have been playing live quite a bit lately so I have to make sure my sets can keep a crowd moving. This set is filled with some of my favorite songs that don’t quite have the ability to rock a club. Relaxing drum and bass, my favorite!! 

What are you up to next?
I am playing a Charity show in Seattle for Mary’s Place on the 23rd which I am very excited about! Then, hopefully, mastering CDJs.

Korra The Kid is a Seattle-based DJ with 9+ years of DJ experience (but still gen z... wow!). She predominantly plays hybrid sets, mixing elements of 160 dnb, hip hop, hyper pop, breaks, techno, footwork, jungle, and grime into her sets. Keeping percussion-heavy, underground electronic music cute is her goal, and she's constantly expanding her genre range. The cuter.... the better. The weirder.... even better!


Fresh off her first Bass Coast Festival performance, Korra has become known as PNW festival staple with sets perfect for any mood. She also frequently plays well-loved Seattle venues such as Kremwerk and Monkey Loft.

Peace Portal began as a way to document the sounds of the growing dance music scene in the Pacific Northwest from the small but noisy town of Bellingham, Washington.

Over it's course, Peace Portal has grown into an outlet for underground dance music from the Pacific Northwest, down the West Coast, and beyond through broadcasts on three non-commercial radio stations, feature write-ups and interviews on the Peace Portal blog, and the occasional party.‍‍
