A contemporary griot, David Ashley treats song as a Black aesthetic oasis to reflect on self and shared experience.  Using nostalgia and a funny criticality, he weaves together everything from growing up on Chicago’s west side to his newfound love for steaks medium rare.  Ashley brings disparate worlds together, building new social imagery and a heady yet elegant sonic lexicon to soak into.
