For our 9th episode of Expressions, we welcome Katahdin.

This mix series focuses on emotional, feel good music that depletes the stresses of life.

Having always felt a profound love for music and the outdoors, Katahdin is the manifestation of a lifelong pursuit to become more connected with the Earth and its inhabitants by means of artistic expression.

Through exploration of psychedelic frequencies, Katahdin utilizes their fascination with intricate sound design to create sonic journeys charged with the intention of connecting to our roots in nature and the cosmos, as well as the inherent human desire to dance - all while acknowledging the duality that exists between darkness & light in our universe.

The inspiration for this mix stems from early instrumental hip hop and trip hop and how it can be woven throughout various styles of music. 

I used two turntables and an analog mixer. This is my first recorded performance with this new setup, so I am very eager to share a little taste of what is to come this year.

Feeling humbled to play a sold out show in my hometown opening up for Emancipator in Salt Lake City. It has always been my dream to share pieces of music that have inspired me or touched my heart. This past show I played more of my own original content than I ever have before. This was the first time I walked off stage feeling proud of the track selection, mixing, scratching and performance. Usually I am feeling discouraged after I play knowing I could have done better or focusing on a small mistake; however, this time I feel great about it.  stay tuned for more content. For the 37th edition of Rusted Rhythms, we have the honor of presenting a chilled-out mix of dela Moon’s finest blends and selections. Through the venerable role as an organizer of the Moontribe Collective, and a personal history stretching back through the recent decades of electronic music, dela’s touch behind the decks is as recognizable as it is infectious, and she left none of her talent on reserve for this dive through low-end psychedelia. 

Brandishing her honed-in understanding of key, mode, and tempo, dela successfully crafts a narrative journey from beginning to end, featuring the craftsmanship of producers like Somatoast, Kursa, DRRTYWULVZ, Futexture, and a host of other like-minded artisans. Clocking in at an hour and eight minutes, it’s a full course meal with dessert included, but we’d expect nothing less from one of the vanguard purveyors of sound system music and culture. Be it through extreme variance in vibe, or zeroing in on a specific spectrum, dela Moon’s indelible ability to portray evolving sonic stories is the permanent mark of her career as a precision selector and curator, and Rusted Rhythms Vol. 37 lives up to her every benchmark.
