Sydney indie-artpop-rock powerhouse, Dappled Cities, will return this 3rd August with their highly-anticipated fourth album, ‘Lake Air’. The record constitutes the first release on HUB The Label: the new partnership between HUB Artist Services and Inertia.

The announcement follows the enormous success of Dappled Cities’ first single, “Run With The Wind”, which dominated radio airwaves and sponsored a colossal East Coast tour.

Conceived while living in London and three years in the making, ‘Lake Air’ is wild, breezy, thrilling, lofty and anything but ordinary. Shedding the imposing and complex sonic layers of their 2009 breakthrough ‘Zounds’, the new album showcases a sublime clarity with a sparser, loftier sound than ever before. Lyrics are sincere, arrangements are dizzying, and the results are revelatory.

Beginning the journey with the epic “Run With The Wind”, the album navigates between the heartfelt (“Love Connection”, "Work In The Mould", “Lake Air”) and the downright danceable (“Born At The Right Time”, “The Leopard”).  If ‘Zounds’ was the sound of a Dappled Cities growing up, then ‘Lake Air’ is the rediscovery of their youth, the reordering of their ambitions and their subsequent reflections on life, death and family.

“The journey of this album was long and difficult, but the music that came out of it is so full of joy and happiness” says vocalist, Tim Derricourt.

Forming in their teens, Dappled Cities have experienced a meteoric rise over the past decade, leading to three acclaimed full-length albums: 2004’s ‘A Smile’, 2006’s ‘Granddance’ and 2009’s ‘Zounds’. Amongst countless accolades, all three records earned Triple J’s coveted Feature Album spot, with the latter two gathering rave write-ups from critical institutions such as Pitchfork and Stereogum. At home, the band have previously toured with the likes of TV On The Radio, Death Cab For Cutie and LCD Soundsystem, and played countless festivals including Harvest, Laneway, Big Day Out andSplendour In The Grass.

'Lake Air' was recorded in various sessions across Paris, Los Angeles and Sydney and is the first album co-produced by the band themselves with young US Producer Jarrad Kritzstein. 'Lake Air' was mixed by Englishman Cenzo Townshend who has variously honed the sound for artists as diverse as Bloc Party, Florence + The Machine, Interpol and New Order.

“It's everything we've ever been,” says Derricourt. “It’s got experimentation, wildness and melody. It gives me the sense that I get every now and again that we could keep doing this for another 20 years – or more.”

HVOB have only just released their impressive debut album, but the next EP is already on the way: "Always Like This" is almost a tribute to the Vienna-based electronic duo's current wave of success.
Number 1 in the iTunes Dance Charts in Austria and number 3 in Germany, number 3 in the Beatport Deep House Charts – and HVOB's eponymous debut album continues to win the band critical acclaim in a success story which began when the first snippets appeared on Soundcloud a year ago. HVOB's Berlin-based label Stil vor Talent, which is no stranger to success, has been delighted by one of its best selling albums to date.
HVOB's third EP is scheduled for release on April 26 – and the track selection seems to be more than mere coincidence. "Always Like This" is an accurate reflection of the young Vienna electro duo's life right now. Anna Müller and Paul Wallner are "super happy" with the way things are going, busy as they are with all the live appearances in cities like Berlin, Paris and Istanbul, long nights spent in the studio and the formation of new partnerships: alongside Four Artists, Primary Talent, one of the world's major booking agencies, will in future be looking after the interests of HVOB.
"Always Like This" is the third single from the album "HVOB". HVOB's cover of the track by British indie rock band Bombay Bicycle Club mixes warm synth pads with soft beats, while Anna Müller's distinctive voice puts an entirely new spin on the melancholy of the original. Oliver Koletzki and Andhim have both made remixes of HVOB's interpretation of "Always Like This": Oliver Koletzki's version is powerful, emotive and melodic, while Andhim's shows incredible attention to detail and is intensely deep and original.
HVOB, which stands for "Her Voice Over Boys", are Anna Müller and Paul Wallner, who formed the duo in spring 2012. Müller (composition, production, vocals) and Wallner (composition and final production) produce intelligent, sophisticated electronic music, which is both easy to listen or dance to. The Vienna duo, who favour live on-stage performances with the backing of a drummer, will be appearing at the Donaufestival in Krems, Lower Austria, the Lighthouse Festival on the Lanterna peninsula (Porec, Croatia), the Pratersauna in Vienna, the Übel & Gefährlich in Hamburg and the Ninkasi in Lyon. The new edition of Late Night Tales journeys to Scandinavia to invite Norwegian duo Röyksopp to delve through their record collection. Their Late Night Tales mix is eclectic, diverse and wonderful. Sliding from light folk to widescreen ambience to experimental rock to prog-pop (seasoned with the occasional guilty pleasure); it’s all in the spirit of the night.

Following the exclusive introduction track 'Daddy's Groove', Rare Bird's beautiful 1975 B-side'Passing Through' then leads into Australian supergroup Little River Band. The first of several delicate folk moments, it's joined by the ever soulful John Martyn. There's a strong representation of alternative European sounds. Röyksopp mine deep and wide to unearth the rare and unusual German psych-pop of Richard Schneider Jnr (featuring none other than Can's Jaki Leibezeit on drums), France's unique F.R. David and the new age melodies of Switzerland's Andreas Vollenweider - it's pop Jim, but not as we know it. There are also the more familiar names of XTC and Thomas Dolby, as well as Röyksopp's exclusive cover of Depeche Mode's 'Ice Machine' and brand new track opening Daddys Groove. The music draws to a close with goth-dream-pop 4AD founders The Mortal Coil's Emmylou Harris cover 'Till I Can Gain Control Again'; blending into a cinematic moment from German electronic avant-garde band Popol Vuh, contributing to the soundtrack of Werner Herzog's 1972 movie Aguirre, the Wrath of God. The second part of the Benedict Cumberbatch narrated story 'Flat of Angles' closes time on this coolly individual edition of Late Night Tales.
