Disciples alumni 99LETTERS celebrates his new album Zigoku [地獄] on Phantom Limb with a Bleep mix of underworldly selections. Though Zigoku [地獄] directly translates as 'Hell', the Osaka-based producer's mix is less the Nine Circles of Dante's Inferno but more of an ambient distillation of the fiery environs of his own full length. Burnt away by corrosives, the layers of his selection leave us endless illuminating plains to wander laid down by fellow guides KMRU, Coby Sey, Actress, the late great Ryuichi Sakamoto and 99LETTERS himself of course, in particular on his own beautifully longing cut, Owaranai Osaka (未終大阪).

Ruminating on this mortal coil, 99LETTERS explains:

"I had a story in mind before creating this mix. It all started with the album "Kaibou Zukan/解剖図鑑" released on Disciples. The scenery and images that we see in our lives are just like the photos that appear when we press the shutter of a camera, and music is the story that mysteriously appears in our minds when we listen to a song. Everyone can feel this phenomenon. Life is not only fun, but it can also be painful and sad. In the mix for Bleep, I expressed these crossroads in life in my own way, and combined songs by artists I respect. For me, it's similar to the feeling you get when you're on a train or driving in a car. I hope that everyone can be happy in their own way, and I would be happy if you listen to this mix and let it become a part of your life." - @99-letters

Next up at Edwin Music channel is Berlin-based producer and DJ @benediktfrey and his close friend @menqui with whom he co-runs the label R.i.O.

For EDWIN MUSIC CHANNEL, he joined forces with his friend Menqui, who is overseeing the administration for the R.i.O. label, is part of the Berlin-based Muting The Noise Record Store and Distribution crew, runs a radio show for Cashmere Radio and plays regular in all those small, but delicate Berlin bars and little dancefloor venues. Together they prepared an epic mix, created live and direct in Menqui’s living room, featuring all sorts of music from pop, Trip-Hop, and Hip-hop to free-tripping electronic grooves. In a world of increasing regulation and control, deviance from established modes of behaviour is tolerated less and less. New policies are constantly being devised by the government to discourage "deviant behaviour".

The broadcast community is already regulated by the government and extremely limited in its ability to present alternative expressions. Pirate radio stations enjoy an unfettered ability to present alternative ideas and music, thus deeming them a source of free expression not carrying the government stamp of approval.

@cr_label's mix for EDWIN this month, AERIAL WARFARE takes us on a journey through some of the moments that shaped our collective experience growing up between 2000 - 2010. Exploring the emerging grime subculture, influenced by DIY codes and pirate radio’s censorship rebellion.

One of the Disciples Matthew also runs a reggae disco in his local pub with a pal, and a few years back put this mix together for o.g. Disciple Luke and his Too Fucked To Dance mixtape series, good excuse to dig through our old Suburban Base / Moving Shadow / Obscure white label 12"s. It's very rare that we get to play jungle out, the general reggae disco we run being on more of a downbeat and dubbed out side, but it's always fun when we do.

The limited edition cassette version of this (with hand-stamped outer box)on TFTD is long gone. TFTD has now mutated into Iceman Junglist Kru / Grimescapes, check it out.
