Neil Willis was on hosting duties this week, with a stunning set of uplifting disco house grooves.

His guest for the second hour was music legend Greg Wilson, who Neil met at a gig recently and invited him on our show. Greg is one of the biggest names in the disco world and a man of exceptional taste and skill. He started DJing back in 1975, and was the first person to DJ live on national TV back in 1983. He's gained huge popularity around the world, and is known for his eclectic DJ sets and using tape reels for mixing during his performances.

Heavily influenced by the extraordinary work of one the best DJ's I've ever witnessed, Greg Wilson.
Also as a tribute for our beloved friend Yam Who (Andy Williams), that very sadly left us a few months ago. Never forgotten Andy, thank you for the legacy left behind.

Happy Fri-yay to you all, plus here’s the tenth instalment of the RC B2B guest mixes of this first series, which I am very humbled, honoured and very excited to welcome Greg @dr_packer this time around 🙏🎶🎧💃🪩🕺😎😊

Greg has been producing his legendary Reworks and Remixes since 2013 when he started his 'Dr Packer' alias, having started out as  ‘DJ Greg Packer' back in 1989.

I have been a huge fan of Greg’s reworks and remixes for a long, long while now. Plus, I  have been including a lot of his releases on my SoundCloud mixes (in this series of B2B mixes), plus my RC Groovers Assemble mixes too over the last few years. Along with a homage mix initially, plus also mixing his regular and awesome MasterMix tracks too. 

Notably, pushing the norm, with the last release back in February where Greg focused on some ‘Jazz Funk’ classics! 

I first met Greg IRL, when he appeared at the Soul Stew event with Chad Jackson, at Windsor back in 2023 on another of his brilliant UK & European summer tours. 

Being one of my hero’s, it was great to chat briefly as an introduction, plus present him with one of my ‘limited edition’ hand made wall frames for vinyls or pictures.

Then last year, I was even more excited to be able see and catch up with Greg again at the end of his tour, on his old stomping ground back in Northampton, at The Pomfret Arms. During this, I was properly made up, when he very, very kindly agreed to do a guest mix for me 😊🙏😎🫡

So sorry, but not sorry yet again, for including a small but brilliant selection of some of Greg’s now legendary ‘Reworks and Remixes’ for my first hour set of this show! An opportunity like this to play a warm up set, ahead of his brilliant mix, really wouldn’t be apt without playing these as my salute 🫡 to the genius of Greg and the Dr!!

** JB NUMBSKULL BIO **
James from Bahia, known as J B Numbskull comes from West country England, beginning his musical life on piano whilst singing and studying music in Truro cathedral choir under the late John Winter. Age 13, James discovered guitar, thanks to Eddie Van Halen and Steve Vai and the emerging metal scene of the 1980s, involving himself in various noisy metal bands until he discovered the UK psychedelic rock scene and started working with sound systems just as electronic music was getting big the early 1990s. 

James has been a DJ for 30 years, beginning in India, going on to play in parties, clubs, festivals and events over 3 continents, including Taiwan, Thailand, UK, Germany, Austria, Hungary and Brazil, with much time spent playing in the London free party scene in the early 2000s. James plays many styles of music to suit the hour and the occasion, all showcased on his Soundcloud profile.

Since 2009, James has lived in Bahia, as a homesteader/host, craft beersmith and resident DJ at Padoca no Campo, Ibicoara, playing in events all over Brazil.
