The gorgeous and melancholic melodies have been in turn re-sampled, re-looped, and re-triggered to create frantic digital errors that skip across my dazzled memory. The light grooves incorporate elements from trip-hop, dub and abstract idm. The predominant cuts and clips are also extended to vocals, eventually morphing them from words to instruments to choppy bits of percussion. He is amazing . . .

Stephen Lee Bruner (born October 19, 1984), better known by his stage name Thundercat, is an American musician, record producer, singer and songwriter from Los Angeles, California. First coming to prominence as a member of crossover thrash band Suicidal Tendencies, he has since released four solo studio albums and is noted for his work with producer Flying Lotus and his appearance on Kendrick Lamar's critically acclaimed 2015 album To Pimp a Butterfly. In 2016, Thundercat won a Grammy for Best Rap/Sung Performance for his work on the track "These Walls" from To Pimp a Butterfly.

Personal life

Busy was born as Bradford Keith Johnson, Jr. on March 22, 1984 in Washington, D.C. but grew up in Maryland. His parents were also musically inclined with his mom singing and his dad playing bass guitar, so he was exposed to music early in his life. At age ten, Brad began playing the alto saxophone in his school band and continued to do so throughout his high school career.

Career

After graduation from Gonzaga College High School, Brad attended the Rochester Institute of Technology and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Packaging Science but had also minored in Marketing and his true passion, Music. During high school and primarily in college, Brad began experimenting with creating beats and instrumentals. He started crafting beats for vocalists to utilize, but put a stronger focus on creating music that did not necessarily have to be accompanied by vocal talent.

Inspired by a variety of styles from different artists including Steely Dan, Radiohead, Outkast, Incubus, A Tribe Called Quest, Timbaland, and Stevie Wonder, Busy’s music expresses his interest in the world around him. Other artists and his parents influenced his passion in music but it is the world – oceans, cosmos, and even quantum physics – that helps Busy to create a unique sound in his music.

Recent

In 2008, he released a track, "Light Curtain", on a compilation entitled New Worlds and has been working on full length projects since then, releasing his first EP, M0ths recently in 2010.

He is also working on a collaboration project with Mono/Poly called Submerged.

Amon Adonai Santos de Araújo Tobin (born February 7, 1972), known as Amon Tobin, is a Brazilian electronic musician, composer and producer. He is noted for his unusual methodology in sound design and music production. He has released eight major studio albums under the London-based Ninja Tune record label. He has also released two albums under the alias Two Fingers with collaborator Doubleclick. His latest release, Long Stories, was released on October 25th, 2019.

His music has been used in numerous major motion pictures including The Italian Job and 21. Tobin has created songs for several independent films, including the 2006 Hungarian film Taxidermia, and had his music used in other independent films, including the 2002 Cannes Palme d'Or nominated Divine Intervention. A selection of his tracks were featured in commercial bumps on Toonami and in the 2005 anime IGPX, and he produced the musical scores to critically acclaimed video games Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory by Ubisoft in 2005, and Sucker Punch's Infamous in 2009.

This month Carhartt WIP Radio welcomes Dego and his genre-defying label @2000black. The British music producer and DJ is best known as one-half of influential duo 4hero in unity with producer Mark "Marc Mac" Clair. He was also part of the seminal jungle and hardcore label Reinforced – a platform where Dego released solo works as Tek 9 or again together with Marc Mac as the prolific breakbeat and hardcore pro-ject Tom And Jerry.

Today Dego is fully dedicated to his 1998 launched label 2000BLACK, that had a major influence on the London based Broken beat scene. Until today he runs 2000BLACK ceaseless under the guidance of the Roy Ayers words „Think about the future, think about change’, releasing peerless music rooted in funk, soul, jazz, hip hop, house and beyond.

For Carhartt WIP Radio, Dego dipped deep into the 2000BLACK label catalogue, to expand our listeners palette. So get ready for some broken grooves, deeper shades of soul and lots of funk out of the 2000Black universe!
