Very hyped to host our long time friend Sacha Mambo for this 15th contribution in the series. Lyon-based DJ & producer has been running skillfully Macadam Mambo alongside Guillaume des Bois for almost 10 years. The label has illustrated itself by non-stop releasing since 2012, showcasing a large palette of sounds from Eva Geist, Traxx, Albion, The Pilotwings and many more.
This new mix is a perfect illustration of Sacha's original taste that have no boundaries. Ambient, experimental, jazz, downtempo, psychedelic and so on.  An excellent ovni as we like! Merci Sacha x

Tribute To Jon Hassell (1937 – 2021)

Jon Hassell was one of the world’s most innovative musicians and one of 20th century most influential composers. His music has established a genre that goes beyond the notions of jazz, neo-classicism, new music or new age. Jon’s concept of Fourth World Music transcends the so-called ‘primitive’ and the so-called ‘futurist’ by seamlessly uniting traditional rhythmic and melodic concepts with recombinant aesthetics made possible by the creations of high technology. Fourth World music is the soundtrack to an imaginary future culture based on the mingling of ancient and modern, Western sophistication and Third World primitivism. Its music for nowhere / nowhen, a place that doesn’t actually exist yet. As Miles Davis, Jassell have transcended the Trumpet’s inherent limitations and use it as flexibly, as expressively and as intimately as a great singer uses his voice.

The latest Phase Group mix,  sent to us from Milan with love from the Italian wizard Joseph Tagliabue. 

Joseph is a talented producer and DJ, skilled at creating and building psychedelic, cosmic and euphoric atmospheres in his productions and sets. Make sure to check out his releases on Lustpoderosa and Blue Sea.

As one chapter closes, another opens. Following the passing of group member J.Derwort in 2019, Hanyo van Oosterom’s legacy work brings about the next evolution of the Chi project: Son of Chi. AI-25 sees subtle developments in the sound and expansion of tonal vocabulary, whilst retaining the organic instrumentation and rapturous dreamtime narratives. Flourishes of piano float elegantly with poise, and long-drawn flutes breathe life into the shifting landscape. Shadows play in the thick vegetal overgrowth, the air is heavy with the scent of age-old evocations. Speakers drift in and out of undulating reverie, forgotten transmissions from the repository of consciousness. Against the wide backdrop of the harsh and wild unknown, a feeling of peace resides within. Night and day gradually collapse into one another, as loops of lapping textures glisten quietly with mystical beauty.

Soda Lite (they/them) lives on the small island of lutruwita (also known as Tasmania) and is deeply influenced by its cool climate rainforests, alpine plateaus and eucalypt valleys. They use music to communicate the unique lifeways of these environments to listeners elsewhere on earth. Soda Lite has recorded three full-length albums since 2017, releasing with notable ambient labels such as Constellation Tatsu and Inner Islands and the next record, entitled ‘Aqua Solar Cura’ is to be released in January 2022 on Not Not Fun.

Soda Lite provided a sweet contribution for Bamboo Shows to close the year peacefully. New age and minimalist ambient music from around the earth, moving slow like a mountain changing shape, or a lake growing warm in spring.

X.Y.R.  - Temple Of Solitary Reflections

This new piece; Temple Of Solitary Reflections, was originally created, but subsequently modernized for one of the audiovisual installations (on the subject of a human / megalopolis collision with nature) for an exhibition at the Vinzavod Gallery in Moscow, Russia in 2020. This work is a kind of meditation session, during which there is an establishment of internal connections with nature. In order to find the optimal balance between beauty, fears and spiritual insight. X.Y.R. applies to his music; analog synthesizers (formanta-mini, korg m1), a loop station and field recordings.
