Gene has been apart of New Zealand’s Bass Culture since the mid 90’s .
From knee deep in the mud of The Gathering’s dance floor to his studio base in Nelson the journey has been a long one but one of the simple love of the music. 

Gene is an accomplished Dj and played throughout the New Zealand for many years. Currently choosing to play less to fit  family, his salon and studio time in.
You will find him in Wellington every three months playing the Laundry and gigs run by Deep and Under Records(DAU).
DAU is a label run by Gene and Brit import Dick Johnson.

PELE & SHAWNECY is certainly more than a regular DJ duo. Their sound is unique. A striking blend of electronic beats, breaks and sounds - coupled with their own vocals. This is almost an unmistakable hallmark of the duo, with urban roots and elements which flow consistently, track by track and of course live with their unmistakable style on the decks.

Whether it's playing Tech House and Nu Disco until sunrise in Thailand, cool poolside beats for Nikki Beach, or floor filling EDM at Linekers in Marbella, there's always one common thread - a love of the power of music to entertain, thrill and bring people together in one common experience.
