A collaboration with Torbjørn Vagle and Jimmy Rivas.

I sent a demo of the song with the basic chord sequence to Torbjørn  and Jimmy in the hope they would consider joining me for another collaboration, Torbjørn to add his exceptional keyboards, Jimmy to write lyrics and provide his powerful and distinctive vocal, luckily for me they both agreed.

Torbjørn  and Jimmy’s contributions have lifted the song to a level way beyond my original demo, thanks very much for your outstanding work guys.

Triumph over adversity is the theme here, I think we can all relate.

Here's something different--a lullaby I wrote for our newest family member so I could sing him to sleep from a thousand miles away. Recorded this last December. This song recently won a Song of the Year Award from the Madison Area Music Association--a pretty big thrill--so I figured I'd finally put it up on SoundCloud. Played on a Takamine GS-330 with a very resonant cedar soundboard (pictured in photo in an oak grove near our house).

Penelope's Thrill is a lucky accident. Lured out of musical retirement by son Andrew, Timothy Walsh dusted off his guitars, including his favorite vintage Guilds and Gretsches, and picked up where he left off 25 years ago playing in garage bands in New Jersey and Boston. 
Tim founded Penelope's Thrill as the vehicle for his new songs, often pulling in other musicians from Madison and from around the world for particular tracks. Son Andrew occasionally appears on guitar or adding vocals. Wife Barbara also appears on keyboards and backing vocals.

     ***All tracks are recorded and mixed by Timothy Walsh at Yew Tree Studios (that is, a tiny upstairs room in my house nestled amid century-old yew trees). Recent songs are recorded with Logic Pro using hardware tube preamps, compressors, etc. Earlier tracks were recorded direct to a Zoom R8 recorder.
