Night fell without its moonlight setting up an even chance
There’s a contract to be honoured. Reputation to enhance
For all intents  you’re  only there to watch the world go by
Checking out each stranger trying not to catch their eye
You like the scent of danger you like the smell of fear
The churning in your stomach when the prey getting near
You feel your heart is pounding  as the blood begins to flow
But all that really matters is the target and the blow

There’s no moonlight in the city and there’s  darkness in the night
Now with the daylight  fading you’ll be hiding from the light
You were told the mark is coming but they’ve misled you in the past
But you’re prepared for darkness as long as it may last 
As the minutes become hours and  the hours become the past

You  wouldn’t do this In the daylight with so many prying eyes
They would catch your careful glances and see through your disguise
But darkness just like moonlight always lies.

Trying not to look suspicious you’ll be looking at your phone
Just like any other man who finds himself alone
But you’ll be very careful  keeping one eye in the street
And focus your attention on the man you’re  here to greet

And he’s coming round the corner, you know you’ve got your man
He’s both careful and attentive but that doesn’t change your plan 
You watch him very closely watching out for signs of fear
Making sure that in the darkness that there’s no one coming near
He’s passes you so close that you can almost touch his face
But you let him pass and follow him towards a quieter place
You sense his pace has quickened, as if he senses something wrong
Maybe your imagination is keeping motivation strong
He turns a final corner and both of you now know
That there’s no more road to travel and there’s nowhere, nowhere else to go
