Pain and pleasure, and the alchemy of converting one to the other through expression is more than a motif in Narciss’ music, it’s the theme.  

At times it’s a lilting melody strung atop a shuffle of percussive activity, at others a thrumming reverie, heavy laden with low end and much more besides, but this variance of sounds inevitably resonates deep inside.  Throughout the entirety of their musical progression, Narciss has been indefatigable in their endeavours, which are motivated by the connection and catharsis that their music cultivates.  This desire to share the transformative powers of music has not only imbued their output with an enticing and revelrous timbre, it has fostered collaborations with like-minded souls like Gerd Janson and DJ Boring, among others.

“There’s a red thread that I’ve been weaving through my life” says Narciss of their journey.  As an artist, a queer person, a partner, and a human alive, the road they’ve walked has changed as it has changed them.  The story unfolding thus far, in singles and EP’s as stanzas and chapters, tells of their trials and of their persistence in overcoming them.  Styles evolved and sounds found and discarded alike, Narciss carries what they need and leaves to the past what’s in the past.  The constant throughout their life and career, which is at the heart of their creative expression, is both a personal mantra and manifestation of their oeuvre - Per Aspera Ad Astra, “through hardships to the stars.”

Nick Spurway builds his sets under the ethos of “less chin stroking, more dancing”, having no trouble flipping between thumping techno, high energy disco and pumping, swingy house within the hour. Nick established his reputation as a killer DJ in his early twenties, playing for numerous parties in Eora/sydney along Oxford Street and deep in Marrickville warehouse party territory, cutting between pitch perfect, vinyl-only opening sets and late-night banging closers.

Across the last ten years, Nick has shared his sound at straight techno nights and day-long queer festivals, from tiny basement parties to 10,000 festival goers. He’s been invited to play for some of the best local and national institutions including Something Else, Loose Ends, Dark Mofo, Midsumma, SASH and the infamous Pavlova Bar parties, playing up to six hours at a time. Being continually booked at a wide range of events has helped Nick create and refine his sets; tying together his long established love of the “holy trinity” of house, disco and funk, with techno, ambient, breakbeat, dance-punk and new wave thrown in for good measure. 

By the time he moved interstate to Naarm/melbourne, Nick had teamed up with fellow DJ, producer and activist Sophie Forrest, forming the duo SWEATY, culminating in a triumphant and well-received closing set at Midsumma Carnival 2022 and co-founded Fur Coat, a "gender-bender discotheque for queers and their peers", with Sophie, Matt Jay and SVEN, throwing parties in the inner west of Sydney with a final, 8-hour party before the pandemic hit, for Sydney Mardi Gras 2020. Both these collaborations continue to the present day. When he's not throwing his own parties, Nick is seen playing alongside some of the very best of local and international talent, such as Simon Caldwell, Move D, Bicep, JNETT, Ayebatonye, Stereogamous, Efdemin, Jane Fitz, Lorna Clarkson, Art Simone, CC:DISCO! and Gavilán Rayna Russom, to name a few.

With spectacular timing, Nick moved himself south to Melbourne in 2020, before lockdowns sent everyone inside for almost two years. Undeterred by this and with no clubs to play at, Nick expanded his talents elsewhere: elevating his music production with one to one mentoring from production legend Red Rack’em as part of his groundbreaking ‘How I Program’ music production community in 2020; hosting and producing a monthly radio show ‘Radio Electronica Australia’, since 2021, and releasing his first original track in 2022.

He kept his DJ chops fresh with live streams from his living room and guest-appearances on fellow DJ’s radio shows. Instead of dropping these pandemic-era habits when clubs re-opened, Nick continues to participate in all of the above, with his popular radio show celebrating four years on the air, in February 2025, with no signs of slowing down.

When Nick began to release his first tracks, he decided to separate the DJ from the producer and a new project was created: Drama in the Sauna. His first completed track, a remix of ‘Gradient’ by Eora/sydney artist Lagoon, was released in 2021, followed by his debut EP on Blur Records in 2022, entitled ‘Hot Water Laundry Service’. In December 2023, Nick released his second EP, 'Rushall', in time for summer, with self-produced tracks 'tongue twister' and 'It's Funny' dropped in 2024 and 'Can't Sleep', produced with frequent collaborator Future Self, released on Self Control Records in January 2025.

After five years down south, Nick moved back to Eora/Sydney in early 2025, reconnecting and establishing his love for the city that made his DJing, bringing with him producing, collaborations and radio, to begin a new phase of his career as it approaches its 20th anniversary.

The Italian born, Berlin based Gianfranco Barnaba is the mind behind Ruff Stuff.  He have rocked up on a host on different labels, including !K7, Shall Not Fade, Madhouse Records, Suol, Sloth Boogie and STEP Recordings. 
However, it's the work on his own label, the aptly names Ruff Stuff Music Ltd, for which he’s arguably best renowned.

Grew up during the ‘90’s electronic wave, firstly as clubber and then as DJ and vinyl enthusiast, in the mid-2000s he decided to start produce electronic music. The first steps were moved on the Idm and Ambient territories, driven by his love for ethereal melodies and intricate broken beats.

The shift to House happened after re-discovering different classic records hidden in his collection. 
From here the idea to create a music project focused on representing the vibes of the old-school House, Techno and Garage with a propensity to find the newest, freshest sounds. 

Rough samples, hypnotic melodies, groovy beats and vocals are the main ingredients that marks the Ruff Stuff’s sound.
