This mix from Glasgow's mainstay, Mag, was recorded at the end of 2020 and there really isn't any good reason for it not seeing the light of day earlier than this. It somehow survived multiple hard drive deaths and wandered in the cloud for way too long before resurfacing recently and finally ending it's journey as the Forecast it was always supposed to be. 

Hailing from London, adopted by Puddle Country and currently galivanting around South America, Mag has pieced together over an hour's worth of sonics that have stood the test of time, a demand unfairly put upon them by the scatter-brained "organisational" capacity of one member of 12th Isle in particular. Said member and Mag have done a number of shows together on Clyde Built throughout the years and are worth checking out, if just to appreciate the unassailable power of friendship in the face of attention deficit issues.

Magic Midnight Radio

It’s wild to think but I’ve been DJ’ing professionally for nearly a decade. It all started with a cold email from a promoter in Brazil and the madness began. I’ve been fortunate to see the world this way. Throughout my career I’ve made it a point to have a variety of performances, whether that’s live band, DJ’ing, or something in between. I think it’s really important to challenge yourself and get out of your comfort zone. With that said, I keep coming back to DJ’ing. Having control over the atmosphere of a venue is a powerful drug. When things click, it’s amazing. 

I’ve been through the various hype cycles of different genres, some that interested me (disco, house, acid) and others that didn’t (dubstep, trap, future house) but ultimately there’s something really special about dance music. Coming from a songwriting background, it feels very foreign. In contrast, it’s counterintuitive. Finding the right balance of repetition and simplicity. 

It’s been several years since I released an actual DJ mix, so figured now is the time.

Curva Imposible is a gathering in Barcelona that explores the most enigmatic margins of music in unique spaces.

The latest event featured local and international acts like Bejota Nova, Lato A, Pedro D. Sáiz, ML, Tomaga, Ron V/D, Don The Tiger, Estades, Andre Pahl & Alicia Carrera, Heap and Rabih Beaini.

The Mystic Room is the place thought for mental relaxation where any sonic oddities could happen - for this occasion, secret guest André Pahl and I played the last slot, acompanied by the nicest crowd.

Finding ourselves in the midst of societal, political, and environmental friction and reimagining, the importance of therapy and care has taken on new meanings. A lot of this care has been centered in dealing with solitude and separation as quarantine restrictions continue during this global pandemic. We take each day as it comes. Tilly’s mix is a comforting and soft reflection on our current state, with each song leaning us towards moments of vulnerability, tenderness and nostalgic reverie.

Frans lives in Berlin and is involved in a multitude of art / music projects under a dozen of mysterious aliases. He's also booker, curator and graphik designer for Arkaoda in Berlin. His soul is inked, his mind determined, he's a productive sloth and what I call DIY!
