Contributing this week's Hyp mix are Lakker, a duo who have just been announced as the newest members of the venerable R&S stable. The label, which played host to electronic music luminaries such as Aphex Twin, Joey Beltram and Derrick May, will put out a four track EP by the Irish pairing in March. The announcement marks a continuation of Lakker's fine 2013, which saw them drop EP's on Stroboscopic Artifacts and Canada Rising, whilst also finding a selection of their tracks included in recent sets by the latterly mentioned Aphex Twin.

Although rooted in Berlin leaning Techno, Lakker have frequently demonstrated a willingness to mix things up that places them comfortably amongst the famously experimental ranks of their new label-mates. Finding room for the likes of spaced out Warp rapper/produce Jeremiah Jae alongside Motor City machine funk merchant Robert Hood, the mix takes in all manner of styles whilst retaining a sleek flow. With two cuts from the forthcoming R&S EP finding their way into the latter half, Hyp 164 is an hour of exciting music from two producers on the up.

Yuji Kondo returns to Perc Trax for his first full EP on the label after the success of his remix of Sawf’s ‘Menete’ a year ago. Like Sawf he relentlessly drives forward crafting his own vision of techno, blocking out as many outside influences as possible. Already gaining attention for both his collaborative Steven Porter project and his own Ducerey Ada Nexino side-project it is under his own name that Yuji releases his most uncompromising machine works. 

It is almost pointless describing individual tracks from this 4-track EP, as they all need to be heard together to experience the full range of Yuji's vision, but rest assured this EP covers everything from martial 4/4 advancements to broken beat experiments here, each wrapped in just enough atmospheric sounds to break up the rhythmic assaults but without ever taken any of their power away.

The Last Dawn is the first of these two companion albums, and is the "lighter" of the two, thematically and melodically. It contains undoubtedly some of MONO's strongest songs ever, drawing on an array of influences from minimalist film score to vintage shoegaze. It is MONO at their absolute purest, executing an uncanny, unspoken dialogue with each other without the dozens of stringed instruments that have been so prominent throughout their catalog. The songs are also noticeably more efficient – there hasn't been a MONO full-length record to fit on a single slab of vinyl since 2003's One Step More And You Die – and the album benefits immeasurably from this streamlined approach. MONO have always been masters of telling compelling stories without words. But now they've proven they can do it without frills, too.

трип are on an outrageous run lately. "I Wanna Go Bang" is the ubiquitous slammer we all know, Bjarki himself one of the tight coterie of hitherto-unheralded acts Nina has helped put on an international stage; gathered up on the label's 2xEP compilations. As well as the youngbloods, some more well-worn faces beloved by the boss have snuck their way onto the comps: and so it proves on TRP005, which sees the second cut from Detroit veteran Kelli Hand in as many releases.

K-HAND's "Sound 6" is, in short, an acid ripper. Resolutely mean and linear, the corrosive 303 pelts forward over a snapping beat with little pause from start to end. It harks back to the height of vintage Djax, another 90s Detroit stalwart; like we say, it rips.

New weapon in our digital army this time provided by Aine veteran Endplate. This spanish producer is one the hidden treasures of local underground scene, and his skills in the studio are nothing but awesome. We have teamed up with him for this extended Ep made of six scientific techno tracks, well seasoned, carefully crafted and timeless.

Promotion is an obsessive track, with a detailed structure built with a few fundamental elements that come and go wisely in the arrangement.

Tired from Early shows electric tension from the beginning, with sub frequencies boosting the air while continuous synth lines and digital percussions lie on top. Again a multi layered intelligently arranged tool.

At school remids us the best minimal synth works from the likes of Mike Parker, dubbed out delayed lines, subtle kicks and a lot of liquidness.

Gemini goes into solid territories with percussive elements as starring, white noise washes, delayed lines and complexity.

They call it a mine is a pure drill, distorsion, obsessive broken drums and drones in an industrial floor destroyer.

Alteration of the order removes any superficial element and keeps the pace with heavy sub bass action and resonant sweep, and excelent track for building up a set.

A complex and mature work that shows techno is not just teenage noise and social media posts, is also about real music.

Warm Up Recordings latest digital weapon comes from Aine veteran Endplate. 

This Spanish producer is one the hidden treasures of the local underground scene, and his skills in the studio are nothing but top quality.
