DSNT004 - Mr Jones - Reality Check [Inigo Kennedy Remix]

Almost a year after they unveiled their collaboration with the wall of sound that was the ‘Spiker’ 12” Perc & Truss return to their home on the Perc Trax Ltd label to serve up a fresh four track EP of live analogue jams. Once again the tracks were recorded in one take. All mistakes, happy accidents and bizarre unexplainable audio artefacts have been kept in place, with no post-production or further editing done once the first take was recorded. These tracks cover more ground than the three on Spiker, but the Perc & Truss collaboration is no experimental vanity project, with all four new tracks aiming straight at the dancefloor.
Title track and opener ‘Two Hundred’ leads the way with caustic acid providing the foundation for a classic London cabbie-rant vocal, whilst ‘Judd’ layers all manner of malfunctioning effect pedal sounds over a triplet rhythm track. 

On the b-side ‘Forever Your Girl’, a mainstay of Perc’s sets for months now, leads the charge, as rave interludes provide a breather from the kind of kick drum volley made for Awakening’s Gashouder home. Finally ‘Van Der Valk’ mixes hardcore stabs over an icy electro-tinged groove and crowd samples stretching the Perc & Truss sound further than ever before.

Soft As Snow - Halo Heart (Lucy Remix)

One of Perc’s all-time favourite tracks returns on Perc Trax Ltd, an imprint purposely created for reissues and collaborative projects. Originally released in 1993 as part of Thomas Heckmann’s ‘Drax Three’ EP on his own Trope Recordings label, it featured on Carl Cox’s seminal F.A.C.T. mix CD and alongside ‘Amphetamine’ has become one of the biggest tracks of Heckmann’s career. This 12" features three new remixes, all of which twist 'Phosphene' into something new whilst keeping the forward facing attitude of the original in place.

Opening up proceedings are Perc & Truss, hot on the heels of their recent sets at Awakenings and their second EP ‘Two Hundred’. Built upon one of their trademark kick and bass assaults the mix has been a highlight of their sets for months. On the B-side AnD deliver something very different to their previous releases, fusing punk drums with overdriven monosynths, making their forthcoming debut album even more of a mouth-watering prospect. Closing the record is The Exaltics who brings a slice of true analogue electro to Perc Trax with a remix which is one of the highlights of Perc’s forthcoming mix CD.

Label founder Perc reveals on of his three new productions from the forthcoming 2xCD album 'Slowly Exploding' compilation released on November 10th.

The track will also be released on vinyl as part of '10 Years EP2', out in early December.

'Still Breathing But Already Dead' is the first single from Barcelona duo The Suicide Of Western Culture, and features on their third album, due for release in March via El Segell del Primavera. Swedish producer, The Field, takes the track down a driving trance route, infusing it with pounding techno and bubbling acidic synths.
