After the success of ‘A Is For Acid’ Perc Trax Ltd continues with the first ever collaboration between the London brutalist dream team of label boss Perc and regular Perc Trax artist Truss (R&S, Avian, OCS) for an EP of no-bullshit, hardware based techno. 

Three tracks, each recorded fully live in one take. No second attempts, no re-edits and no processing of the tracks after they were recorded. Add mastering by Matt Colton and you have one of Perc Trax's rawest releases so date. 

As with A Is For Acid the first pressing of this 12” will be on clear vinyl with a full colour double-sided artwork insert by Jonny Costello, who also created the artwork for Perc’s ‘Wicker & Steel’ and ‘Labour Division’ by Forward Strategy Group.

Snow Ghosts return with their sophomore album, “A Wrecking”, the follow-up to their 2013 debut “A Small Murmuration”. Sharing a mutual influence of the shadowy elements of British folklore and the heavier side of experimental noise, a disparate array of references combines to form Snow Ghosts’ bewitching and intoxicating sound. Ross Tones (aka Throwing Snow) and Hannah Cartwright (Augustus Ghost) are now joined by multi-instrumentalist Oliver Knowles (EXES) to pool their individual inspirations, ideas and styles under the moniker of Snow Ghosts.  

Less focused on rhythm and more on melody and instrumentation, “A Wrecking” ebbs and flows to mirror the vocal meanings; the guitars reflect the sea with panning and reverb effects while a haunting electric violin slips in and out of the record’s consciousness.

Rino Cerrone - Old River Park

On SA014 Xhin and Perc explore the savage side of the dance floor with four punishing tracks. The EP is sliced open by ‘She’s The Disease’. Xhin’s A1 is saturated with details: strange metallic scrapes, squelching pads and beats that constantly push to the surface. A2 ‘Blinding Truth’ is a master class in dense, industrial textures. The track swoons and swoops in and out of focus revealing Xhin at his shadowy finest. On the flip side of the wax Perc’s ‘Forge’ is built around no-nonsense broken beats and layered with eerie, granulated sounds. The key to ‘Forge’ is counterbalance, Perc volleys sounds off one another, shifting the atmosphere between strictly industrial and sharply glacial reference points. The EP is closed as darkly as it began with ‘Kater’. Atop stabbing beats Perc stacks strange reed tones, wisps of a conversation held far in the distance and split second samples that could have been prised from an opera. ‘Kater’ is a production that is brilliantly constructed: these sounds shouldn’t necessarily work together, but their combination is brutally good. SA014 showcases two of Stroboscopic Artefacts’ core artists using experimental sound design to fortify productions that are more that capable of destroying the dance floor.
