Amon Tobin occupies a peculiar position in the dance music firmament – a point where the gravitational forces of IDM, EDM, D’n’B and rather more hipster-friendly bass music balance one another out. He’s got every bit the production finesse, and often the weirdness, of WARP luminaries, he can also make some very deep and dark basement-friendly tunes – yet he is something of a rave superstar in the USA, and for The Six Rhythms EP he’s on Dutch loudness-warriors Noisia’s label Division. His Two Fingers guise was originally created for tracks with UK MC Sway, but it’s now an instrumental project. We won’t lie, the other tracks on this EP slide a bit far into stadium rave territory for us, but this one – a healthy dose of body-rocking warehouse electro – does the business and then some. It’s out on 22nd June – you can preorder on the Division site or iTunes.

I'm particularly proud to present the 4th ISTHEWAY release, which happens to be a cooperation for an exclusive, single-sided vinyl-only EP.


Barely avoiding a collision course, Shinoby and Hypnobeat keep a makeshift synchronised track on a forceful, agitated ride through a vast junkyard of hyperbole, hounded by a furious aurora that threatens to expose the shadow-casting and shade-loving construct to the light of grandeur while the protagonists' programming is on the verge of bursting at all seams of the grid and scatters dirty, feather-edged sounds galore along the endless trail of exhaustion. Nevertheless, from the beginning it is clear that all things pass into the night – the light, the speed, the sound, the matter, and so do those who follow with a curious and obsessive mind and a lust-shaken body.


Following a "neo-tribal" approach, James Dean Brown founded Hypnobeat in 1983. Evolving from the project, JDB formed Narcotic Syntax in 1995, a band he boosted together with Yapacc in 2003, with releases on Perlon, WIR and Prospector. After all, Hypnobeat retransformed from Narcotic Syntax and saw the exciting new evolution with Helena Hauff joining the project in 2013.


The duo's live performances are completely based on improvisation, exhausting the power of an untamed Roland horde which is unique on stage: 1 x TR-707 + 3 x TR-808 + 2x TB-303 + an array of effects = provocative percussion, voodoo passion, tribal ecstasy, hypnodelic temptation, psycho-exotic magic, universal resonance, and a quantum of danger under a crypto-bohemian approach.

Perc Trax opens its account for 2017 with the first full EP on the label from London's Manni Dee. As uncompromising in sound and as he is politically aware Manni is leading the next generation of London techno artists who continue the city's rich history of producers operating at the more extreme edge of the genre. 

Lead track 'London Isn't England' is a driving, sharp-edged slice of UK techno inspired by the June 23rd referendum result. Charging forward from the moment it starts, a searing lead line and Ewa Justka's distorted vocals only add to its relentless momentum. 

B1 track 'Mephi' keeps up the pressure hitting the middle ground between Perc Trax's heavy hitting sound and the more percussive output of the city's acid techno scene, whilst 'Adorable Disorder' allows a pause for breath yet still shivers with the uncertainty of the future.

Manni Dee - London Isn't England Feat. Ewa Justka

Åre:gone returns, this time with a solo EP, presenting two hypnotic and industrial-influenced cuts plus two great remixes. Starting with “Rå”, a modular-driven track with a detailed texture work and atmospheric components. Second we have the Marla Singer’s remix, exposing a bass heavy interpretation with a very good pads rework. On the B-Side we found “Asgard” with a subterranean groove sequence and layered drums and reverberations. The last two tracks are remixes from A Thousand Details, the first one is a work that shows a minimalistic and more experimental version of the original one and the second is a warmer and melodic remix. Abstraction keeps evolving it’s sound.
