Delicious Vinyl brings you Sunset Blvd, the new album from Yancey Boys, the group piloted by John “Illa J” Yancey and Frank Nitt. The dynamic new collection is built around previously unheard tracks created by Illa J’s brother: the late, great J Dilla (James Yancey). With Frank Nitt’s standing as J Dilla Music Catalog Curator and the official approval of Yancey Media Group, all productions on Sunset Blvd originate from The Lost Scrolls — the stunning cache of beats Dilla left behind.

With its rapturous single “Quicksand” featuring Common, Sunset Blvd also teams Yancey Boys with De La Soul’s Posdnuos (“Beautiful”), The Pharcyde’s SlimKid3 (“Rock My World”), and T3 of Slum Village (“Jeep Volume”), making it clear that the Dilla legacy is being represented by those who knew and collaborated with Dilla in his lifetime. Additional guests on Sunset Blvd include DJs Rhettmatic, C-Minus, and JRocc (Beat Junkies) as well as rap roughneck Guilty Simpson and R&B strongman Eric Roberson. “We’ve created an album that would make Dilla proud,” says Frank Nitt, who grew up with Dilla in Detroit. “But this isn’t a nostalgia trip: Dilla’s beats were so future-forward that they’re right on time in 2013, and we’ve assembled the best artists possible to represent that.”

Actually, we think it’d be pretty chill if he took the reigns on the “the world’s unique soundtrack” and made it sound a little more like this velvety, floor-shaking, party-starting, spooky, hypnotic house track GHOST he delivered us on the back of a singing Alec Ounsworth from Indie Rock Band CLAP YOUR HANDS SAY YEAH.

Alexander Gerlach aka Niconé werkelt seit 2007 an seiner Electronica-Vision – irgendwo zwischen urbaner Club- und Modekultur. Eine Symbiose, die man in erster Linie aus der Welt der Popkultur kennt, wo Musik und öffentliche Dar- und Zurschaustellung einander bedingen. Musikalisch bewegt sich sein Sound im minimalistischen, leicht housigen Bereich. Seine Platten finden sich auf Labelgrößen wie Stil vor Talent, Forcetracks, Savedrecords und dem Bar25 Imprint. 2016 erschien mit „Luxation“ das zweite Album auf Katermukke.

Sascha Braemer brachte 2011 Tracks  „Caje“ und „People“ in die Szene-Clubs und den Techno wieder in die Charts. 2015 dann das erste eigenes Artist-Album „No Home“: eine emotionale, rauschartige Tech-House-Platte, über das Leben zwischen Familie und Touren, absoluter Euphorie und Rastlosigkeit, Jubel und Angst. Der perfekte Sound für den Sundowner über den Dächern Berlins.

Aphroe zählt das neue Jahr mit einem Banger ein, der die Latte für 2013 locker um 12 Zoll nach oben legt.

Aphroe sagt mit „XIII“ danke für 2012, dem Jahr das die MC Legende endgültig zurück auf die Raplandkarte brachte. Mit „90“ legte er sein Ohr auf die Schiene der Geschichte, definierte den Ruhrpott state of mind neu und rockte zusammen mit Mirko Machine bundesweit spaces and places.

Der Beat für „XIII“ kommt von Sebbtember aus Baden, gemischt hat Dexter in Stuttgart, recordet und gemastert wurde in der Brewery zu Köln unter Leitung von Roe Beardie, der Tag stammt von Babak Dedicated.
