Main Course continues to show that they have their finger on the pulse this year, as evidenced by their newest compilation, Plates. The eight-track album has been compiled by label owner Bot and features bass-heavy house and techno tracks from Tony Quattro, Eyes Everywhere and Astronomar. One of the highlights from the package comes from Floridian upstart Landis LaPace, who serves up a dirtybird-inspired weapon called “The Heat.” He has his first run of shows this summer and will be dropping into Nocturnal Wonderland in September as well. Plates is up for grabs on August 14, but you can grab this free download for a limited time if you act quickly.

Cera Alba returns to MadTech this June with the ’89 EP, comprising two original compositions, a dub interpretation and a remix from Montel.

Liam Jones, better known to most as Cera Alba has become a driving force for underground house and techno from the UK over the past few years with releases on Hot Creations, AVOTRE, Lost Records and of course Kerri Chandler’s MadTech imprint where he returns to here.

Kick starting the release is title cut ‘‘89’ which lays down a dark and brooding groove via weight percussion and bubbling dub stabs before gradually unfolding into a crescendo of bright piano chords and soul infused vocal lines. ‘Solitary Nights’ follows and retains the eerie aesthetic of the preceding record, laying the focus on menacing bass drones, tension building atmospherics and rumbling subs, while subtly evolving percussion and sporadic vocal licks ebb and flow throughout.

Montel steps in to remix ‘’89’ next, bringing shuffled rhythms, chugging bass swells and swirling delayed snippets from the original vocal and piano into the limelight to create a unique twist on the original number. A ‘Dub’ of ‘’89’ from Alba then shapes up the package.

Back in 2015 our bearded Dirtybird Player, Will Clarke, needed a secret weapon for some of his festival gigs for the Summer. He sampled the ghetto house legend, DJ Funk, who made an appearance on Dirtybird back in 2013 for the Kill Frenzy smash, “Make That Booty Clap”. Will passed it on to the rest of the Dirtybird crew, and before we knew it the track took a life of it’s own and quickly became one of the most requested tracks, even to this day. Will ended up linking with DJ Funk himself, and they turned what was a quick bootleg into a full blown collaboration. 

Ladies & Gentlemen, “Booty Percolatin’” is officially here.

For the flip side, we added Will’s solo effort “House Girl”, a bumpin’ ride with a contagious bassline and chanting vocals for all the ‘House Boys’ and ‘House Girls”.
