Two years on from the seductive disco deviance of his previous full length, Mystic Jungle returns to his home base Periodic Records with a two track 12” single titled “Words of Love.” Masculine and feminine vocals interplay amidst textures of dreamy dub delirium, their tones smooth, yearning and androgynous as they plead over and over... repeating “Say You Love Me” like some spell of desperate romantic magic. Splatters of tropical island percussion move through starbound synth hooks, and sparkles of stellar vapor sooth the soul as moonlit organ chords ride equatorial riddims and chunky funky FM-bass riffs while all around, saxophonics blow like a humid mediterranean breeze. And on the flip, the extended version gives plenty of space over to club-minded dubwise drum intros, freely floating vocal layers, and seriously sun-scorched guitar solos that send waves of fire ripping through the air. PRD1024 • Mystic Jungle - "Words Of Love"

The newest single from Whodamanny’s Biloba sublabel of Periodica Records is “Volveràn,” a dark and delirious saxophonic strut given four different variations. In the Club version, gang vocals chant to the sky, pads hover like neon mist, and technoid synths twinkle through moonlit boulevards as basslines clad in black leather stomp over a futuristic disco dance. The Radio mix distills these characteristics into sorcerous display of pop songcraft, whereas the Dub goes elsewhere, omitting the sax completely in favor of delayed drum dynamics, cosmic chords climaxes, sunbaked guitar jangles, and vocals shrouded in a hallucinatory haze. And in a bold display of disco house minimalism, the Sax Only cut strips down to saxophone, bass, and drums, with accents of guitar and synth providing subtle pops of color. Philadelphia based STUDS Universal Cave flip a pair of arcane tunes into party time dance floor anthems on this double A sider.

Starting off with the uptempo stomper "So Soft So Sweet," the big sing-along hook, searing synth solo, and reinforced drums make this a perfect secret weapon for your next disco set.

On the flip, "Mishugina Mambo" offers up a heavy duty Latin rhythm workout. Inspired by the classic Sofrito Specials series, the hypnotic guitar and roaring horns soar over driving percussion and pulsing drums that dare everyone in the room to remain still.

Universal Cave began it's journey in 2009, and currently Shawn Ryan, Brian Cassidy, and Alex Tebbs Mitchell are at the helm. Known for their namesake record label and their Soft Rock For Hard times label and mix series,  they have also released edits and remixes on Emotional Rescue, Pleasure of Love, and now STUDS. It has been less than a year since the dreamy 'Words of Love' single, yet @mysticjungle is back with a new album of free-spirited forays into solar-sonic fantasy. Despite the short time between releases, however, Dario di Pace’s third LP, 'Sunset Breaker', has been in gestation for a long while and reflects an arduous journey through studio closures and multiple recording locations. It also shows the stylistic variety that results when a set of songs develops over several years. Despite this difficult journey, Mystic Jungle has produced a rich and multi-colored display of sounds and styles, resulting in his most diverse and adventurous musical narrative thus far. Standout dance tracks like “Secrets” and “Some Lovin'” feature disco beats and body-moving grooves, with searing guitars, sultry saxophones, and layers of loved-up lyrics and call-and-response vocals that add to the magical motion. Meanwhile, “Innervision” and “Twilight” draw inspiration from lovers rock and neon new-wave dub pop, where yearning vocals, ecstatic pixie hooks, and liquid fuzz leads intertwine with fantasy synths and exotic string instruments from faraway lands.
