Last December Dublin Digital Radio celebrated their 4th birthday. As part of a weekend of celebrations myself and Declan Synnott recorded a long conversation. Declan Synnott is not only a gentleman, he’s also scholar – with an actual PhD in Punk. I know I’ve talked about my own perceived parallels between Punk and Traditional Irish music many times in the past, but I think this is the most in depth and articulate it has ever come out. as a central point of reference of grischa lichtenberger‘s »la demeure/il y a péril en la demeure« complex, raster-noton releases a limited edition of three 12“ vinyl EPs that are accompanied by a handmade, signed and individualized screen print.

the three EPs were set up as an experiment. each of the records is guided by a word that could be described as a phantasmagoria, a delusion of the 20th century – like a metaphor that is concerned not only with its immediate meaning, but with an implication more emotional, more irrational, telling something about the mindset of the not so distant past.

these keywords already existed before the production on the tracks began and thus played the role of an indirect orientation or playground for association. nevertheless, the EPs are not conceptualized, but rather a collection of habits and strategies in relation to the titles.

common to all EPs of the triptych is the question of a connection between intimacy and the public sphere. aesthetically, the music presented on the EPs ranges from distressing and unaligned dancefloor-oriented tracks to tribal and politically charged drones to unsettling noise ballads. on »spielraum«, for example, hypnotizing music box melodies are combined with claustrophobic breakbeats. »allgegenwart«, on the other hand, presents mechanical rhythms and sawing pads, topped with high-pitched warning sounds. last but not least, the final EP »strahlung« features self-forgetful, gloomy and melancholy tracks backed by melodies that remind of a barrel organ turned upside down.

Martin Schulte is a techno producer from Russia who has been delivering new albums once a year. “Seasons” is his latest album which he describes as “Expressing the echos of each seasons - a mixture of cold winter, fresh spring, sunny summer and bright autumn packed with 60 minutes of harmonious chords”. The album sounds just pleasant throughout without any intentional complications which makes each bit of sounds so soothing and alive.

„Snuffo in Santanyí“ is a bi-weekly, 2-hour long radio show, hosted by German Electronic Music producer, live act and label owner: Snuffo. The format is recorded in his studio in the village of Santanyí on the island of Mallorca, Spain. 

With the 34th episode, Snuffo returns from his little summer break. Guest DJ on this latest show is Stefan Gubatz, an incredibly charming producer, live act and DJ from Cologne,  Germany. 

He’s a man of many many talents and most of all, he’s one of Snuffos best friends and mentors. 

Stefan Gubatz releases music under his real name but also as Dirtbox Jams. On  his own Youtube channel he shows his love for synths and drum machines and stuff, and with his label KONZERN he founded a wonderful outlet for very special music and art releases 

Last but not least, both, he and Snuffo like to wear masks when playIng together live on stage. :)

Perplex On is a band from Munich which makes electronic music.
Between Apparat and Tocotronic, Funkstörung and postpunk sounds of raindrops leaking through the cracks in the city, looking for the jumps to reality where dark psychedelic replaces the omnipresent pathos.
The result is on the one hand black metal for digital sleep walkers, but on the other hand dream pop for existentialists. [S.A.W.]
