Born in Qala-Qala, Potosi, Bolivia, Luzmila has been singing since the mid 1960’s of her homeland, of the Pachamama, of nature and her people in Quechua, a language thought to be more than 2,000 years old. The power of her stories transcends the boundaries of language; even without understanding the words, the listener can feel its beauty. Sit back and take a trip with Luzmila, remixed by some of the most innovative and creative producers experimenting with the new Latin music genre today.

My special guest this week is one of my favourite artists, Monsieur Van Pratt. Hailing from Mexico City, he is a self-taught musician, DJ and producer who is well-respected in the music world. His music brings together the groove of late seventies disco, eighties funk and the catchy vibe of jazz, but reinvented for modern times with elements of modern synths and rhythms of house music. 

As a producer he is prolific, with a huge back catalogue of tracks released on labels such as Tropical Disco, Masterworks Music, Slightly Transformed and Discoweey. He also runs the record label Super Spicy Records, which has gained a reputation for quality releases of funk and disco. 

Last year Monsieur Van Pratt was ranked #54 in the Traxsource Top 100 Nu-Disco artists of 2020.

Debeaufort began collecting records years back and took to DJing which naturally evolved into some class editing bout 3 years ago. Since then he’s taken his fans by storm with releases on Too Slow to Disco, Slightly Transformed, See-Saw and of course my own Discoholics Anonymous today.  Ferdinand always plays it nice and groovy with a natural flair for incredible selections and fine, fine grooves.
