A funny thing happened last night.  Well, maybe not so much "funny" as...unusual?  

I don't know if you know this, but nearly all of these Interbay *SoundCloud Exclusive* tracks are made in a day--more accurately, after posting the previous day's track until whenever it posts.  (Though, I am stockpiling a few tracks so I can continue to post daily while on a summer trip and won't have as much time available to produce new tracks.)  

(...so, if you ever thought that an Interbay track felt "unpolished"--that's why.)  

(This isn't a brag, by the way--I'm not TRYING to do things fast.  I'm simply old and impatient...and getting a bit better each time.)  

I also love novelty--don't like to do the exact same style, tempo, instrumentation as the previously posted track.  (Which reminds me...I should do a guitar-based track soon.  Was the last one "PLAW"?)  So, after yesterday's "Release"--being a mutant house song with afro-beat sounds and some spoken word poetry, I wanted to make something very different than that for today.  

I chose to make an EBM (electronic body music) track.  Think Nitzer Ebb, Front 242, etc--like a more dance-based industrial track.  Uptempo, probably shouted vocals, deeply sequenced rapid fire bass notes, the occasional screech or anvil hit--it was certainly one of the sounds I've grown up with, and I haven't done one of those in awhile.  

Now, if you've already clicked "play" on "Kaleidoscope"--you already know that THAT isn't THAT.  

About 6pm last night, I admitted to my kid--who was coming up for air after a few hours of Elden Ring--that I may have had my headphones too loud, as I'd developed a headache.  And they replied, "Maybe you need to produce a lo-fi chillout track instead?"

(I'd like to take credit for my kid's intelligence, but it's probably more from their late mom.)

So, I closed the EBM project file and clicked "New Project" and started from scratch, not thinking that this new track would be the one I'd post first--but taking a break from the more abrasive sounding EBM track, at least for awhile, would be a good thing.  

Again, if you've clicked play--you know that good thing turned into today's posted track.  

There's more singing on this track, there's a lot of granual stuff happening to with the synths, there's some strings, there's a drum beat I came up with that sounds like a typewriter on the hats (and, in the pattern where the only sound is that typewriter hi-hat sound, I did tap out the syllables in "Kaleidoscope"...thought I'd point directly to one of my Easter Eggs for a change.)  

I hesitated to post it--as while it wasn't the previously posted track, you may feel this shares a similar vibe to "Borealis" that was the track from two days ago...but, I honestly didn't think I could finish off the EBM track--and today is a busy prep day, so a Kaleidoscope it is.

As always, a follow earns a follow back...and both likes and comments are appreciated.  Hope you like the stuff I make, regardless.
