The amazingly talented Issa Bagayogo transports us to the West African traditional ethnic sounds of Mali. His ability to captivate the audience with his hauntingly beautiful voice full of emotion representative of a wise individuals countless life stories from his habits of drug addiction to his multi-perspective observations of his home country, make him a story teller. These lyrics of which we have looped a certain part, according to our research talk about:

You only get out what you put in,
only work frees a person,
So, it is worth paying tribute,

Toroya means suffering in Bambara, the most widely spoken language in Mali after French, and accurately captures the hard working, perseverant spirit of the African working woman and man! Besides being a talented lyricist, who beautifully conveys so much without the majority understanding what his lyrics mean, Bagayogo also plays the N'goni. A traditional Mali lute instrument, it has 3-6 strings, made out of hollowed wood and dried animal skin. This eastern instrument truly has a hypnotizing, spiritual and organic sound! 

What most attracts us to this man and makes him one of our idols is his ability to transcend the perceived boundaries of old and new, he incorporates mildly electronic influenced groove with traditional Mali instruments and voice leading to a tingly sensation sent down the spine of any individual who instantly 
becomes captivated in the West African rhythm. Unfortunately, he passed away last year. This song is our tribute, we by no means are assuming any rights for it but, wanted to show that we too can transcend the perceived boundaries and that is what we strive to do! Thank you Issa for your lessons, and your ability to touch the souls of people around the world, we salute you and may you rest in peace.

Ubungani is one of the words for friendship in IsiZulu, the language of the Zulu people, one of the largest Ethnic groups in South Africa. For the Zulu people, sing & dance are an integral part of activities that promote unity, and accompany transitional ceremonies. The lyrics in this song are by a Zulu choir, let your mind trail from interpretation and let your soul understand.
