After their latest EP Psychic Antenna on Berlin-based R.i.O Label, Brooklyn Electronic music duo brainwave research center returns with their 4th self-released LP, Night Life.
A soundtrack-like selection of vignettes inspired by the sounds of night time creatures and moods, Night Life is an attempt at capturing feelings of existing at night in liminal spaces.
Electronic motifs, rhythms, and textures tie together using various analog and digital synthesizers as well as various found instruments. Primary instruments include ARP 2600, Ensoniq Fizmo, Kawai K5000, Oberheim OB8, Korg MS-20, TR-606, & flute.

Biography: 
Jonah van der Hout is an artist from near Braunschweig in Lower Saxony, Germany. After playing in several metal and independent rock bands, he discovered his passion for electronic music and began producing in the late 1990s. At that time, however, he found it difficult to focus on multiple projects and decided to pause his electronic productions. Following a longer musical break, Jonah returned to creating new tracks and rediscovered his creative drive. His music blends elements of minimal techno with dub techno influences and subtle touches of house.

For over two decades, Martin Erdmann has been a dedicated record collector. On his shelves you’ll find everything from ultra-rare and utterly obscure to completely unknown records - alongside plenty of immortal classics.

He focuses on vintage dance music, hunting overlooked gems from the past and pairing them with today’s most thrilling tracks. As part of the Pizza Italo Disco Collective, he runs a monthly event in Lucerne, Switzerland.

In this vinyl-only mix, Martin curates 21 cuts spanning decades, genres, and countries: cornerstones of early Electro, echoes of Detroit’s enduring sound, sought-after Caribbean Boogie, Canadian Synth-Pop treasures, and, of course, many shades of Italo Disco.

On this episode of Intent Interviews, I had the pleasure of speaking with Tommy Harrison (a.k.a. Asphalt Layer) and Wilson Logan. Together, they are Quadrant Soundscape.  

Quadrant Soundscape is a collaboration of two people with a profound love for the art of DJing, digging, selecting, and sharing music with the community. Together, Tommy and Wilson have built the premier mix series in the genre with their Dub Explorations mixes. Last year, they launched The Frontier, which features the biggest name in dub techno.  They also have a series called the Quadrasphere, which is an outlet for dub techno DJs to play other styles of music that inspire them.

Throughout the conversation, we discussed the journey they’ve been on to get to this point. We also discussed how they approach sets and mixes, and their love of finding and sharing new music.
