Well, we had a very special Black Light Disco show to tickle the  Myhouseradio.fm airwaves with on Monday 24th October 2022. This week, we handed the entire show over to our very good friends from Ireland’s OpenTempoFM -  the deadliest of deadly duos  - Mr Cole Kutz and Mr Stephen Richards! 

This is a takeover show long overdue, and we’re delighted to have the lads doing their thing in the Collaboration Zone here in BLD Towers. 

First up for this double-dragon smackdown is Cole Kutz. One of the driving forces behind OpenTempo FM, Cole is a master of the airwaves; a silver tongued, sweet talkin’ DJ who has an incomparable style and buckets of charm. His regular Friday night show on Waterford’s OpenTempoFM entertains listeners from far and wide - and for many of us it starts the soundtrack to our weekend. A mystery dipped in allure and wrapped in an enigma, Mr Kutz loves his anonymity. We’re still not sure how long it will last though, given his supreme talent on the decks and on the air. 

As he does every Friday, Cole hands things over to the one and only Stephen Richards for the second part of the show. Stephen is a multi-talented DJ and producer who founded and hosted Disco Daze - one of THE most influential radio shows on the scene in the last five years. As a producer, Stephen has a very distinctive style which oozes originality, diversity and creativity. He has seen releases on some of the biggest labels out there, including Tropical Disco, Spa In Disco, Hot Digits and Discoweey to name but a few. This set for BLD is a prime example of the man’s skills behind the decks - nimble and full of energy! 

The OpenTempoFM takeover will be in full effect, and you can’t escape it! It's an honour and a pleasure to have these two legends on the show and we know you’re going to love what they have in store.

Originating from Brighton, UK and currently based in Belfast, Gregg Holmes AKA Fingerman has moved between styles ranging from Techno to House before finding his feet with Disco for the last decade. He set up a vinyl residency at the legendary Casablanca Jazz club spinning strictly extended disco twelves which led to his own DJ friendly edits surfacing on Soundcloud and Bandcamp.

His editing style soon caught the ears of many respected DJs on the scene such as Dimitri in Paris and Greg Wilson (who has charted Fingerman edits consecutively for 5 years even to the point of releasing a few of them on his own vinyl imprint A&R edits)

Fingerman set up his own record label “Hot Digits Music” in 2014 and has been releasing tracks and remixing on labels such as Tropical Disco, Samosa Records, Re-Loved, Paper Records, Chopshop, Midnight Riot, Masterworks, Hotbox Boogie, Wall Of Fame and Discodat. 

Hot Digits Music alongside vinyl only offshoot “Wax Digits”, has been placed at the coveted number one slot on Juno Download on many occasions releasing up and coming, established editors and original artists such as Dr Packer, Hotmood, Late Nite Tuff Guy, OOFT!, Situation, Get Down Edits, C. Da Afro, Andy Buchan, P-Sol and Melon Bomb to name but a few.

Good Custard Mixtape 069: Fingerman

This episode saw me mixing up my usual blend of genres, tempos and eras, with disco, funk, house and sleazy boogie all making an appearance. Lighter on the promos this fortnight as I’ve not had a chance to download the latest goodies, but one forthcoming tune from me in the mix. 

In the second hour I was incredibly excited to welcome a member of one of my favourite bands of all time, Derrick McKenzie. As Jamiroquai’s drummer he’s laid down the backing of some of the funkiest tracks ever recorded, and if that wasn’t enough he’s also a brilliant DJ and producer. I’ve been lucky enough to meet him a couple of times too and he’s a thoroughly lovely guy, and I’m thrilled that I’ve managed to talk him into doing a guest mix for my show! It’s a funky affair, filled with beautiful soulful house and funky nu-disco vibes.

Funkier Radio Episode 96 - Derrick McKenzie [Jamiroquai] Guest Mix

@javi-frias is a well respected DJ and producer from the disco and house scene. He began collecting and playing records as a young ‘soul boy' at the end of the nineties in Madrid, his hometown, and since then he has not stopped traveling to share his music through many venues, clubs and festivals worldwide. New York, Cairo, London, Mexico City, Paris, Barcelona, Washington DC, Amsterdam or Berlin are some of the places where he has had the opportunity to carry out his incendiary, eclectic and danceable sets full of disco, boogie, afro, funk, house and soulful sounds.

In the past few years he has begun to make noise at international level thanks to his edits and reworks, published a handful of EPs and singles on influential labels like Street Edits, Tropical Disco Records, Giant Cuts, Midnight Riot, Boogie Café or Bons Records. His music is played and charted regularly by top DJs such Danny Krivit, Detroit Swindle, Red Greg, Horse Meat Disco, Jacques Renault, Rahaan, Marcel Vogel, Folamour, Get Down Edits, Frank Booker...

In 2017 he started his own label Night Shift Records, devoted to edits and reworks of disco and house, where he has released in vinyl and digital his own productions and occasionally the work of other fellow producers. He's also part of the mysterious Disco Pocho label, focused on the soul and funk side of the disco edit, where he has already released a couple of 7”.

He is currently resident DJ and booker of Discotizer, the best disco, boogie and house party in Spain currently taking place at El Sotano, where he has invited and shared the decks with artists like Louie Vega, Joey Negro, Danny Kirivit, Eli Soul Clap, Detroit Swindle, Rahaan, Red Greg, HMD, Eli Escobar, Dan Shake, Medlar, Jacques Renault, Get Down Edits, Marcel Vogel, Ron Basejam, Art Of Tones, Luxxury, Alkalino, Eddie C, Faze Action, Dicky Trisco, The Revenge, Mr. Mendel, Alexander Nut, Ray Mang, Kon, Luke Solomon, Melvo Baptiste, Dr. Packer...

London-based DJ and producer Pete Ellison has been spinning music for 25 years and has a passion for funk and disco, blending sounds of the 70s with house beats, vocal samples and chunky basslines.

He broadcasts a weekly show on NDC Radio called the "Feel Good Friday Show", with a special guest each week from the Nu-Disco world. The show won the award of "Best Radio Show" at the OGV Music Awards in 2022. 

He's had releases on Super Spicy Records, Discoholics Anonymous, Mango Sounds, Spa In Disco and Hot Digits. Two of his tracks have hit the Number 1 spot on Juno Download.  

He runs a London DJ collective called Serendipity who throw underground events and boat parties. He has played at dozens of London clubs,  and has played at festivals, boat parties, woodland raves, Ibiza pool parties and even the dungeon of a French chateau. Long DJ sets are a speciality, with his longest ever DJ performance being an epic 8-hour set.


Pete is also part of The Disco Waltons, a group of International DJs and Disco Lovers who came together during lockdown through their love of music. They host a Sunday night show on NDC Radio, playing on rotation with special guests

As well as Funk, Soul and Disco, he plays Melodic Techno, House and Progressive House
