My special guest this week is Hansi, a DJ, Producer and Sound Engineer from St Albans in the UK. Hansi was immersed in music from an early age, going to gigs with his Dad who was a Jazz Drummer. He was once the bass player in a band, until his DJ career took off in the 90s, when he played at clubs and festivals throughout the UK, spinning rare groove, funk and house. He still has a staggering collection of vinyl from those days, with an estimated 3000-4000 records.

In 2000 he started a DJ night in St Albans called The Monday Club which became a bit of an institution running for a mighty 10 years and featuring both local and established DJs such as Dreadzone, The Freestylers, Brandon Block, Flux Pavillion, Chris Clark, Nicky Blackmarket, Sigma etc

In 2004 he started running a local live music venue called The Horn which was subsequently nominated for UK Music Pub of The Year at The Great British Pub Awards 5 times, winning it 3 times.

More recently Hansi started making remixes and edits of classic funk and soul tracks, breathing new life and energy into them. They are released under his own successful record label, Viking Grooves, and his most recent EP hit the number 1 spot in the Junodownload charts. After a two week break, I was back behind the decks for another funky Friday session. Joining me for the second hour was Philoop 2.0, a talented DJ from Italy whose soundcloud mixes made a big impression on me. My co-host Greg Middleton took the controls for episode 176 and he welcomed special guest from France, Jean-Marie aka Vibes4YourSoul.

Vibes4YourSoul (aka V4YS) is a French DJ and producer, part of collectives/labels Partyfine (Paris/Reims) & Too Slow To Disco (Berlin).

His eclectic musical world blends the Jazz/Disco/Funk roots, to colourful Afro-Brazilian vibes, as well as contemporary House/Electro and indie sounds. As a DJ, he's shaking these influences together to create a funky conundrum where styles and times matter less than the groove thread between them.

As a producer, he frequently adds his groovy touch to old gems through edits and remixes, either self-released on his busy Soundcloud page, or on vinyl/digital for reference labels like Too Slow To Disco, Partyfine, Hot Digits, Act Of Sedition...He also occasionally releases official remixes for contemporary pop/electro bands (L'Impératrice, Poolside or Plano...).

With both myself and co-host @gregmiddleton unavailable this week, we were delighted to welcome back our good friend, and excellent DJ and producer, Tom Whittaker aka @evenfunkier to the Feel Good Friday hot seat. He did a great job hosting the show, and welcomed our special guest this week, the amazing DJ Laurel @dj-laurel. 

Warsaw-based DJ Laurel is been spinning Soul, Funk & Disco since 2000 and has gone on to make numerous tracks and edits released on renowned labels such as Katakana Edits, Timewarp Music, Kraak Records, Act Of Sedition, Hot Digit Music, Electric Friends Music and Discoholics Anonymous, to name but a few.

As a DJ he's played at clubs and festivals across the globe including England, France, Austria, Montenegro, and USA, alongside legends such as Jazzanova, Richard Dorfmeister, Robert Luis , Florian Keller, 7 Samurai, Bonobo , Crazy P, Red Astaire, Dj Food, Nickodemus, Dj Format, Florian Keller , Dom Servini, Boca45, Scrimchire and even a B2B set with Dj Andy Smith!

Greg Middleton hosted this week's show with a nod to Marlena Shaw RIP, a load of hot new releases and a few other tasty gems.

Our special guest this week is Claborg @claborg, from Bologna in Italy. Claudio Borgatti AKA Claborg was born in Bologna back in 1978. Starting at a young age he developed a passion for music, more specifically funk, and started to fulfill gigs locally. He started publishing his work with B Club Recordings in 2016

On April 2017 the track "Twenty Four" aired on BBC Radio 1, positioning itself in the Top 200 Soul/Funk/Disco Traxsource of the year.

In 2021 the track "For You Again" was included in the Top 200 Jackin House Traxsource of the year. Claborg also collaborated on various projects with international DJs and producers.

** DJ SOULSEO BIO **
DJ Soulseo from Lugano-Switzerland began to listen to music as a child, listening to bands such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Deep Purple, Genesis, Pink Floyd, all great artists from the 70s & 80s.

At the age of 16, he bought his first electric guitar and started playing with a group in his home city. In parallel to his love for Rock music, he also often went out to Discos, appreciating the great artists of that movement such as Chic, EW & F, Change, but he particularly loved 'that Funky music

Two years later, Soulseo gathered some musical experience in a local radio station and at the discos. During the 80s, he lived for 10 years in Zurich and was able to follow closely the birth of the Techno movement. 

Then one day, about 15 years ago, he bought his first modern mixer with 2 CDJs and started mixing - never stopped.

** DAVID GRAHN BIO **
Born and raised in Sweden, David started DJ at the age of 15 when he bought his first cheap ”DJ-setup” making it 25 years in the ”business”. Starting from Trance, Goa and Swedish Techno, the sound progressed through all possible genres as the years went on and the travels commenced. Exploring sounds, emotion, feelings, tempos and rhythms to evolve the sound, from Electro house, to deep, vocal, funky, clubby, progressive, organic in to more disco, funky, soulful, balearic sound and rare grooves. 

Recently been drifting more in to world music, taking a lot of inspiration from recent travels in Japan, Cuba, Mexico, Brazil and Kenya/African sounds. Making a 1 hour mix for the show was very challenging as David prefers playing 4-5 hours sets to make a proper journey in sounds, grooves, tempos and feelings.

@gregmiddleton was in the hot seat this week, kicking off the show with some lovely disco and house flavours, including red hot promo gear from maestro Michael Gray.

This week's special guest mixer is Jesse Mathews @jesse_mathews from Florida, USA, and he delivered a wonderful downtempo mix, packed full of gentle grooves to help you drift away into your own world for 60 minutes. In his own words... "I'm a music obsessed child of the 70's and 80's...having grown up in Central Florida riding skateboards and getting all my junior mischief maker badges...the one thing that remained constant was music. Combining wood and nails from junk piles at construction sites to build ramps to skate on as a kid, evolved into going out to concerts, parties and nightclubs. Hardcore and punk rock interests morphed into hip hop, reggae, breakbeat, electro, techno, disco and house music. I bought tons of music that I played on a belt driven turntable that used to belong to my parents. Eventually I was handed down a set of direct drive decks from a buddy upgrading his system. I bought myself a cheap mixer and I started making mixtapes for friends, road trips, chillin' at home, whatever the situation called for. Years later, I picked up Serato and began buying digital music. I started putting mixes on soundcloud over a dozen years ago and some of them received some nice feedback. Fast forward to today...I am still hooked on buying music that moves me and making mixes to send out to my friends. Sometimes I still get on the skateboard and try not to bust my ass."

Prisma Deer is a dj and producer from Costa Rica. His musical taste revolves around the genres of House, Deep House, Jackin House, Funk, Disco, Nu Disco and Indie Dance. He has been a dj for several years and played in most known clubs in Costa Rica. He is founder of Cross Fade Records and host of a weekly radio show in Amplify 95.5 FM. Ep 196: Feel Good Friday Show (Greg Middleton And DiscoRocks)

London-based DJ and producer Pete Ellison has been spinning music for 25 years and has a passion for funk and disco, blending sounds of the 70s with house beats, vocal samples and chunky basslines.

He broadcasts a weekly show on NDC Radio called the "Feel Good Friday Show", with a special guest each week from the Nu-Disco world. The show won the award of "Best Radio Show" at the OGV Music Awards in 2022. 

He's had releases on Super Spicy Records, Discoholics Anonymous, Mango Sounds, Spa In Disco and Hot Digits. Two of his tracks have hit the Number 1 spot on Juno Download.  

He runs a London DJ collective called Serendipity who throw underground events and boat parties. He has played at dozens of London clubs,  and has played at festivals, boat parties, woodland raves, Ibiza pool parties and even the dungeon of a French chateau. Long DJ sets are a speciality, with his longest ever DJ performance being an epic 8-hour set.


Pete is also part of The Disco Waltons, a group of International DJs and Disco Lovers who came together during lockdown through their love of music. They host a Sunday night show on NDC Radio, playing on rotation with special guests

As well as Funk, Soul and Disco, he plays Melodic Techno, House and Progressive House
