On the custard mixtape series this week we have Pete Ellison. 
Having been DJing since 1998 and starting out originally playing vinyl, his music collection from those 20 years is vast. It covers a variety of genres from house to nu-disco, funk to techno and everything in between. 
Long DJ sets are a speciality, with his longest ever DJ performance being an epic 8-hour set.
He runs a DJ collective called Serendipity who throw underground events and boat parties in London, playing an eclectic vibe of disco, deep house and techno. 
For the past year he has been broadcasting a weekly show called the “Feel Good Friday Radio Show”, featuring stellar guests from the world of funk and nu-disco.
More recently Pete has started producing his own tracks, with his first EP coming out on Super Spicy Records later this year!

His music collection from those 20 years is vast, and covers a variety of genres from house, nu-disco and funk to techno and progressive house. Pete Ellison has been DJing since the vinyl days of 1998, and his music collection from the past 20 years is vast.  He loves funk, soul and disco, but also plays an eclectic vibe encompassing trance, progressive house, techno, trip-hop, downtempo house and chillout. A live DJ set recorded at one of the legendary "Oval Parties."  I've had the pleasure of DJing at these parties every year since 2006. Always a great vibe with fancy dress and lovely people.

Psy-Boutique is an intimate music festival that was due to celebrate it's 10th Anniversary this year. The event is now postponed until next year, but the spirit of Psy-Boutique lives on each week via a weekly radio show which showcases the DJs who were due to play at the festival

Psy-Boutique Radio Show

I’m back to take you on a little journey through beautiful funky lands. I battle through a few tech problems thanks to a computer meltdown earlier in the week to bring you disco, boogie, hip hop, soul, acid, jack and some housey edits. Apologies it's a bit rough around the edges this time - technology eh?

In the second hour I hand over as usual to a special guest, and this episode I’m pleased to bring you an hour of quality funky music from Pete Ellison. Pete tells me he had loads of fun recording this and was bouncing around in his living room, and that shines through in this mix. The quality of guest mixes recently has been phenomenal and this one is no exception, and I’m happy to welcome Pete to the Funkier Radio Family.

Pete hosts a great show called Feel Good Fridays - it’s a bit like mine and I’m a big fan. Pete’s expert selections are perfect to get you in that Friday mood, and most weeks he has a guest mix too. Guests so far have included Smashed Atoms, Lex, Stephen Richards, Goz, Evil Smarty and… me! Pete was very kind to offer me a guest slot, and I’m really happy to return the favour. And he totally smashed it!

Funkier Radio Episode 37 (Pete Ellison Guest Mix)

Black Light Disco swung back onto the MyHouse Radio airwaves with a show packed to the rafters with knee slappin’ foot tappin’ hifalutin’ good time music. 

Starting things off from behind the BLD Bar and music podium is our resident, Goz - who was serving up the disco punch and giving a two for one offer on the Manhattan Funk cocktails. 

For the second hour of the show we’re delighted to have the one and only Pete Ellison on guest mix duties. 

Pete has been DJ’ing since 1998, earning his stripes playing vinyl and running his own Hard House night. More recently he started a London DJ collective called ‘Serendipity’ who throw underground events and boat parties, with the whole crew typically playing back-to-back all night at their events. 

Pete has had a similar journey to BLD, starting his own weekly broadcast series last year ‘Feel Good Friday Radio Show’ which is growing from strength to strength and has featured some of the biggest names on the Nu-Disco scene as guests. This, ladies and gents, is a corker. A corking corker!

BLD 22nd Feb 2021 with Goz & Pete Ellison

London-based DJ and producer Pete Ellison has been spinning music for 25 years and has a passion for funk and disco, blending sounds of the 70s with house beats, vocal samples and chunky basslines.

He broadcasts a weekly show on NDC Radio called the "Feel Good Friday Show", with a special guest each week from the Nu-Disco world. The show won the award of "Best Radio Show" at the OGV Music Awards in 2022. 

He's had releases on Super Spicy Records, Discoholics Anonymous, Mango Sounds, Spa In Disco and Hot Digits. Two of his tracks have hit the Number 1 spot on Juno Download.  

He runs a London DJ collective called Serendipity who throw underground events and boat parties. He has played at dozens of London clubs,  and has played at festivals, boat parties, woodland raves, Ibiza pool parties and even the dungeon of a French chateau. Long DJ sets are a speciality, with his longest ever DJ performance being an epic 8-hour set.


Pete is also part of The Disco Waltons, a group of International DJs and Disco Lovers who came together during lockdown through their love of music. They host a Sunday night show on NDC Radio, playing on rotation with special guests

As well as Funk, Soul and Disco, he plays Melodic Techno, House and Progressive House
