Yulia Kasa| Hypnotic Hard Groove Techno | Tilt Shift Tuesday 11th June 2024

With an unwavering passion for deep, dark, groovy house and melodic techno, and newly branching out into fast, hypnotic techno with acid basslines, Yulia Kasa continues to push the boundaries of her signature sound and style. Based in Melbourne, Kasa has played solo for KISS FM Aus, 150 BPM events, Lucky Coq, My Aeon TechnoTime, TechNeck radio, In Progress Amsterdam radio with Zoldex and more. Kasa was also a founding member of duo Femme Fatale in 2023 where she played at well-known venues Revolver, New Guernica and Brown Alley. Kasa's sole focus now is on her solo journey, as well as meeting like-minded people within the underground techno community and discovering new artists at events. Kasa looks for inspiration everywhere, and her dedication and enthusiasm can be felt on dance floors. Kasa's sets are currently influenced by the likes of Drumcode, Klockworks, Tr!p recordings, HATE, BCCO and Vault Sessions Collective. She is inspired by artists such as Nina Kraviz, Ben Klock, Richie Hawtin, Ben Sims, MARRON, CHLAR, Alarico, Wata Igarashi and many more. Yulia Kasa is not only an inspiring DJ but also an advocate for the promotion of diversity and inclusion within the music industry. She actively supports initiatives that empower and uplift aspiring artists worldwide. Currently in her element with a clear vision ahead, there are lots of exciting things to come from Yulia Kasa.

Tilt Shift sits firmly left of center, a difficult-to-label square peg that unintentionally fails to fit a pigeonhole. Borrowing from the photography term, Tilt Shift refers to two different types of movement, a selective focus with a large depth of field used to control perception. This can be applied to our music policy, tilting the vertical axis resulting in a sharp area of focus without reducing the depth of field. The selective focus that can be achieved by both tilting and shifting movements, It's compelling because the effect is different from that which you may have become accustomed to. This movement is often used to avoid the convergence of parallel lines, or as we have come to think of it, it’s where the lines blur.

Not only does Cari produce music, he's also running and managing his own label H-productions (Hybrid Productions). We were delighted to have Cari on our first day of Loveland festival. The Essential Mix is a weekly radio show on BBC Radio 1 currently broadcast between 0:00 - 2:00 AM UK time on Saturday morning. Originally broadcast on 30 October 1993, the Essential Mix features contemporary DJs and music producers of electronic dance music. The show has been presented since its inception by Pete Tong and features an uninterrupted two-hour mix from a different artist each week, overlaid with occasional continuity announcements delivered by Tong.
