This little guitar solo was such fun I couldn't quite bring myself to consign it to oblivion. It was from the middle 8 of a song called 'Letter from an Absent Father', written in 2006 for a theatre piece called 'Cremenville' but never included because it was stylistically too different. 
It had several other runs around the block, never making the cut, but the one-off Pink Floyd inspired guitar solo is something I never get to do, so, self indulgently, here it is...

Ga Sho. The underscore to the encounter between State Dept representative, Ronnie and her Chinese equivalent, Zhao.
This is their third encounter, tensions are high as their solo lines increasingly cut across each other

Tenzin Choegyal plays Pala (father) in Ga Sho. 
This song was written for Ga Sho by Tenzin Choegyal ( arr. Pete M. Wyer). It follows the title aria 'Ga Sho' - his daughter is unconscious on the floor of her cell, her father wishes he could be there to comfort her.

The second movement of 'If I Had Known I was dreaming' a setting of poems by 9th century Japanese poetess Ono no Komachi - a rare time in history when all of the leading poets were women, no event could be called significant unless if had a poem to recall it.

I was struck by Komachi's vivid emotional turmoil set in a buddhist existential context: how alive the poetry seemed more than a thousand years after its creation - I tried in the second movement to create a swirling tangle in the string quartet for the voice to sail above.
