Mixed in FL Studio. Tempo slowed gradually from 60bpm to 50bpm similar to Marconi Union, http://www.ryot.org/scientists-create-relaxing-song-world/375837 However, the actual tempo of the synCrickets or synWind or synRain doesn't actually change, just the loop lengths...

Crickets And Rain [disquiet0199-spacecrickets]

I thought about language when thinking about time travel and audio...so I recorded myself reciting the English Alphabet, then Sumerian vowels and consonants...present day sounds to ancient sounds. The rest is me playing with synth pads and manipulating old cylinder recordings.

I kept it pretty simple figuring the next two participants were going to add something to make it more interesting.  Pulled out my wooden tongue drum which I love the sound of but I don't always like the C Major scale it's in. I improvised a rhythm/melody with no click track.  There was only a bit of editing afterward to cut down the length. Added some delay to make it more interesting. This also kind of made the melody(s) more like chords because they ring out more. I was trying to make the rhythm sort of there but not there, garbled a bit by the delay.

pollen's CROWDS which was chosen for me has a worrying sneeze it it! I hope that pollen is OK, was it just hayfever? CROWDS has already so much going on that I thought I'd improvise (zither and some little percussion) just imitating some of the movements in the piece. Very curious to see what this might become!

As the offspring of two computer programmers, I've often thought of operating systems as a metaphor for a person's psyche. I interpreted this prompt via the name of the OS and by imagining system sounds for an OS that cultivates the peace, serenity, and contemplation I find in haikus and really all thoughtfully composed poetry/writing that invites introspection and acceptance of the multiplicity of meaning, which led me to thoughts of space travel and the idea of an OS that helps humanity to work together toward the collective effort of space travel for purposes of exploration and discovery in the absence of conquest, competition, and ego. All using samples from freesound.org (listed below), with some effects. The soundscape thus includes a mixture of gentle sounds, space ship sounds, and sounds reminiscent of related technologies with some linguistic/conceptual connection (e.g., a camera click for a mouse event).
