Thank god Doug is finally out of prison and with a slammin new 3 track EP on ZR. Please don't let anything you saw on Crime Watch bias you against Mr Williis and his Dougtastic grooves. DW would like to make it known that the account they portrayed of events on the show was very one sided. It was only due to an incident earlier in the evening in a local kebab house with poorly maintained tomato ketchup dispenser that he'd had to discard his trousers. Then by misreading Google maps he'd ended up in the wrong garden at the wrong moment. While Crimewatch didn't even bother to mention he had an ear infection at the time, so couldn't hear any screaming.

The original Incredible Bongo Band's Bongo Rock is firmly cemented into musical history having provided the often sampled (and completely irresistible) “Apache” drum break for a million and one producers to cut up. Also known as Michael Viner's Incredible Bongo Band, the project was born in 1972.

Over 3 decades after its inception, UK producer and avid record collector, Shawn Lee was marveling at the fact that there had never been an Indian style, sitar and tabla-heavy, version of the Incredible Bongo Band masterpiece, "Apache". Lee decided he’d take on the entire Bongo Band debut album; and also two of his favorite tracks from their second album for good measure. “Why cover a song when you can cover a whole album? This is the road to madness my friend, and it is my preferred route!”

This LP is pressed on translucent vinyl and limited to 500 hand-numbered copies.

For more than 20 years he’s been reworking disco and funk classics as label boss of Alpaca Edits and Llama Farm Recordings, updating originals with a distinctive dance‑floor edge. His prolific remixes have been played by DJs worldwide — he’s a regular at Beatherder, made his Ring stage debut this summer alongside Utah Saints and Jaegerossa, and is a Mastermix remixer alongside Ben Liebrand, Sgt Slick and DJ S. He’s shared decks with Young Pulse, Michael Gray, Craig Charles, Dr Packer and Jo Whiley, and already has dates booked for 2026. 

Simply put:  he makes what he loves in the headphones come out the big speakers.
