Hi everyone 

Here's my guest mix for The Best Kept Secret which was launched Saturday 26th February 2022 at Tapestry Arts in Bradford. 

These nights will be held exclusively at various points in the year with the next one on Sunday 17th April where I'll be playing alongside some great DJs including Funkmaster Hutchy, who's vision has brought The Best Kept Secret to life. If you're in the West Yorkshire area & want a great night with amazing sounds come along, it'd be great to see you there!

My special guest this week is my good friend Wahine who was visiting the UK from Atlanta. She was broadcasting LIVE with me from the Feel Good Friday studios in London.

Wahine is one of my fellow Disco Waltons and is one of the most talented DJs I know. Her knowledge and breadth of music is staggering, and she always weaves together a groovy set of varied genres and style, often with a tropical vibe. You can read her BIO below. 

** WAHINE BIO **
In just over 2 years, Wahine (wah-hee-neh) has risen from total obscurity into a rising star in the disco scene. Winning the Defected Croatia mix contest in 2019 and making her international debut at the boutique festival put her on the radar of many following a 10 year hiatus from DJing.

Wahine co-hosts Spin City on the World’s #1 House Radio Station, MyHouseRadio.fm, in addition to contributing guest mixes to many important shows in the genre, including Disco Deviance, NDC Radio, and Disco Daze, . She also writes a guest column for the #3 house music blog, LeVisiteur.com, and kicked off an interview show for Only Good Vibes in 2021 focused on US-based talent.

Wahine’s sound can be described as “Disco in Paradise”—sundrenched and full of tropical influences, matching her Hawaiian moniker. Funky licks are spiced with percussive jams with both equal parts brains and brawn.

This year she began her foray into music production and her early mashups are already receiving support from the likes of David Elders (MFSB) and radio shows from The Black Light Disco (UK) to OpenTempo (IR) and The Shady Lady Show (NL).

In 2021, she launched her first international tour with dates in Glasgow, Liverpool, Warrington, Gütersloh & Dublin.

If there’s anyone who prompts the question “When does he find time to make that?” it’s serial editor and remixer Pete Le Freq. For more than 20 years he’s been reworking disco and funk classics as label boss of Alpaca Edits and Llama Farm Recordings, updating originals with a distinctive dance‑floor edge. His prolific remixes have been played by DJs worldwide — he’s a regular at Beatherder, made his Ring stage debut this summer alongside Utah Saints and Jaegerossa, and is a Mastermix remixer alongside Ben Liebrand, Sgt Slick and DJ S. He’s shared decks with Young Pulse, Michael Gray, Craig Charles, Dr Packer and Jo Whiley, and already has dates booked for 2026. 

Simply put:  he makes what he loves in the headphones come out the big speakers.
