Black Light Disco returns to the myhouseradio.fm airwaves with wind turbines set to ‘Full On’ to enter our disco slipstream. 

Starting things off for this week’s show is our host and BLD resident, Goz - fresh from a gruelling transatlantic trip to fix the phase emitters at the top of BLD Towers. Expect some corkers to be pulled out of his rucksack of grooves! 

Our guest this week is Italian DJ, producer / remixer - the one and only Mauro Vecchi! 

Mauro has been self-confessed rhythm addict since the 1990s, and preaches the word of funk, disco, soulful house and anything with a groovy feeling and positive vibe. His sets spin from downtempo grooves up to quality disco/house, from vinyl to digital it makes no difference to him; the most important thing is good music! Mauro's passion for music shines through in everything he does. Always active in programming for clubs and events in his area and beyond, Mauro’s music can be heard on monthly shows including Uptown Disco Session in U-FM Radio (Rome), The Word Is Groove -  Radio RapTZ (Paris) and in his very popular Mixcloud channel.

Mauro also started his own Bandcamp page where you can find plenty of tasty edits and remixes, but above all he publishes first official tracks on And Friends Records and place some edits in prestigious collections like Discoholics Anonymous and Yacht Disco Edits / Too Slow To Disco.
A regular artist appearing on the excellent ‘And Friends’ VA series, Discoholics Anonymous Recordings and the prestigious Too Slow To Disco Series, Mauro is fully immersed in all things groovy and we are so delighted to have him on for his BLD debut. You’re gonna love it!!

This weeks Spin City Show that aired on myhouseradio.fm 17th Jan 2021 seen me on hosting duties with an incredible guest for the second hour by GMGN. I  welcomed the super-talented DJ/producer GMGN to the show for the first time. GMGN (Good Morning Good Night) is the production/DJ moniker of Ben Adams. Originally hailing from the UK, Ben now calls Boston his home. A champion of house and disco, he is a co-founder and resident at Grassfed Disco, a bi-monthly disco party running for the past 3 years in Boston (nominated party of the year at the Boston Music Awards 2019). Dancing in Your Kitchen with Pete Le Freq 11.2.21

SAMOSA FUNK returned to the MyHouse Radio airwaves on Monday 5th Feb 2021 with Episode 10 of their monthly residency for Black Light Disco. 

This is  another masterclass in world building and atmosphere creating from De Gama and @les Les Inferno, who are never, ever anything less than exceptional when they grace the BLD stage. 

For this one, we’ve played the old ‘switcheroo’ card - with De Gama taking the wheel for the first hour with an incredible slow builder, featuring a heavy chunk of new and upcoming releases on their Samosa Records label. These little tasters of what’s to come from arguably one of the best labels out there (in our humble opinion) drive us insane - we want them. We want to own them. The sneaky peaks tantalisingly tantalise. 

For the second half, Les Inferno is on a mission to bring us the finest grooves known to humanity. He knows them all. He owns them all. His Mind-Palace Rolodex works overtime, and the selections come thick and fast. Les Inferno owns us all, and he knows it. He knows we can’t help it. Les Inferno is here to capture you in his web of sonic threads. Funk it up. Right up.

Samosa Funk Vol 10 feat De Gama and Les Inferno

If ever there was someone who the phrase “How does he find time to make that?” was about, serial editor and remixer Pete Le Freq is it. His reworks have been played on BBC Radio 6 regularly by Craig Charles, and DJs the world over, and the sheer number of tracks he produces have caused people to suggest he doesn't sleep much.

Pete started producing over 12 years ago, and made a bit of noise with his house label Llama Farm Recordings. He's been remixed by Jay-J, Eric Kupper and Kenny Summit, appeared on compilations with Joey Negro and LCD Soundsystem, and played alongside  the likes of Crazy P, Inland Knights, CagedBaby and a few others. 

Since discovering the things he was sampling were better than the things he was making, Pete found that retouching and reworking the originals gave him his producing mojo back, and soon after Alpaca Edits was born. 

The York based edits label has since become home to disco superstars such as Dr Packer, Chuggin Edits, and Mannix. He’s been resident DJ at Sotano in York for the last 7 years, and this has fuelled his productions to greater heights. He’s known for playing 5 hour sets that incorporate both his new productions and others versions of serious disco action.

2019 has seen Pete get a vinyl release alongside the likes of Fingerman, Al Kent and Sleazy McQueen on Samosa Recordings, produce remixes for the likes of Hot Digits and Midnight Riot, as well as having 4 eps of his reworks on his own Alpaca Edits. He’s also debuted at Tramlines Festival in Sheffield, and made a return to rock the Toil Trees stage at Beatherder for the second year running. 

November saw him support Michael Gray and Fingerman at Distrikt in Leeds and Derek Kaye in York. The year ended with him beating the likes of Mousse T and Ray Mang in the Traxsource Nu-Disco Top 100 Artists of the year. 

Lockdown saw Pete go into rework overdrive, running a weekly Thursday night stream, as well as starting a regular show on Street Sounds Radio. He also worked with Ashley Slater of Freak Power on some original tracks.

2021 has seen the return of Pete’s That Needs An Edit nights in York, and will culminate in December with a guest slot from Shaka Loves You.
