This month's show was a little bit different - with my good friend and excellent selector Tom Whittaker aka Even Funkier joining me in the studio for a proper back 2 back session. It was an absolute joy to share to share the decks, and a few beers, while covering some serious musical ground across the 2 hours .... we spun a completely off the cuff mix of stuff that we'd like to hear in a dark, sweaty, club... quirky electro disco, uplifting house, afrobeat, soulful house, nu-disco, 90s progressive classics and more! Criss-crossing the boundaries of house, disco, nu disco, global grooves and beyond… selections include newer, up-front cuts, forgotten gems and rarities, b-sides, and the odd well-placed classic.

Each month it’ll be a new 2 hour mix with minimal level of chat...just quality, underground music!

HI Li here and tonight is a special one for me as I get the opportunity to host another very special guest.
This is my second mix for the show I've been co-producing for over the last year. I don't claim to be a DJ but this new hobby has given me the opportunity to show my musical taste on a few different shows now thanks to the support of my dear friends Mark Christopher  Greg Middleton  Wilson Frisk  & other members of a group of DJ, radio hosts & producers collectively known as the Disco Waltons.

Our very own DJ BK from Germany 🇩🇪 hosted the show this week. Bastian is a versatile DJ with an eclectic taste and particular love of edits. Ep125 - DJ BK And Tony Johns - Disco Waltons Sunday Service (8th October 2023)

My co-host Greg was back in the driving seat for his monthly outing on the show, and he used the first hour of the show to showcase some of his favourite new jams around at the moment, plus one or two older goodies he found while digging around his digital crates.

In hour two, he welcomed his special guests and good friends James Caldecott and John Orton aka Late Night Disco. Their mix was recorded live at the highly regarded The Disco Express night at 25 Paul St, London - loads of feel-good jams, original disco and rare groove, a few reworks and an amusing amount of early Wham (which I'm told is due to John recently watching the Wham doc on Netflix)! :)

If there’s anyone who prompts the question “When does he find time to make that?” it’s serial editor and remixer Pete Le Freq. For more than 20 years he’s been reworking disco and funk classics as label boss of Alpaca Edits and Llama Farm Recordings, updating originals with a distinctive dance‑floor edge. His prolific remixes have been played by DJs worldwide — he’s a regular at Beatherder, made his Ring stage debut this summer alongside Utah Saints and Jaegerossa, and is a Mastermix remixer alongside Ben Liebrand, Sgt Slick and DJ S. He’s shared decks with Young Pulse, Michael Gray, Craig Charles, Dr Packer and Jo Whiley, and already has dates booked for 2026. 

Simply put:  he makes what he loves in the headphones come out the big speakers.
