The Architects of the Good Groove have again delved deep to find untapped disco gold material and update it for club systems and basement parties alike.
With infectious tracks plucked from obscurity, full of original touches as long extended mixes instead of the usual dull radio edits 
The four-to-the-floor pulse is imbued with a suggestive bit of shuffle and swing, with accents on the two and four. 
The grooves are more restrained than techno’s, leaning back rather than barreling forward; rich in harmony and atmosphere, buoyant as a jellyfish, bursting with lush textures and phosphorescent tones. 

The music here is highly reflexive; it allegorizes and extends the aesthetic of sampling, 
where the remixed version challenges the aura of the original and claims autonomy even when it carries the name of the original; 
material is added or deleted, but the original tracks are largely left intact to be recognizable.

Despite the artist name and album title, this is far from being the collection of 15 limp, same-y soul ballads you might be fearing! Instead, Secret Soul Society - AKA Neon Heights front man Cal Gibson and friends - serve up veritable sm?rg?sbord of Balearic delights, from the dusty, looped disco-soul of 'Better Get To Know You' and the folksy Laurel Canyon vibes of 'Groovy Coconuts' to the 80s soul redux of 'Find Our Way', the bonkers 'Leeping For Joy' which should appeal to fans of 4hero, Four Tet et al, and the Stevie Nicks-biting 'Stevie Loves Bettye'.

If there’s anyone who prompts the question “When does he find time to make that?” it’s serial editor and remixer Pete Le Freq. For more than 20 years he’s been reworking disco and funk classics as label boss of Alpaca Edits and Llama Farm Recordings, updating originals with a distinctive dance‑floor edge. His prolific remixes have been played by DJs worldwide — he’s a regular at Beatherder, made his Ring stage debut this summer alongside Utah Saints and Jaegerossa, and is a Mastermix remixer alongside Ben Liebrand, Sgt Slick and DJ S. He’s shared decks with Young Pulse, Michael Gray, Craig Charles, Dr Packer and Jo Whiley, and already has dates booked for 2026. 

Simply put:  he makes what he loves in the headphones come out the big speakers.
