Fauxtown Records is an indie record label that has been around since 2005, hailing from the Southern Ontario region.  

The label began as a congregation of several local bands from this area, after the region had experienced what seemed like a "golden age" for rock, punk, alternative, experimental, and outsider acts from the area.  In the late 90's, after countless cool bands both internationally famous and virtually unknown came and went, it was soon enough time for the new kids to try out this "music" thing.  While the glory days could not be reclaimed as such, some interesting sounds began to rumble through the walls of old buildings, and pierce the silvery sheen on the river's surface just enough to cause a small sonic ripple.

Fauxtown, as an entity, seeks to surprise listeners with songs yet unheard that will hopefully waft breezily through your speakers and blow softly on the cobwebs inside your soul, not to brush the cobwebs away, but simply to cause them to move in time with the music ever so slightly...

Will Van De Crommert is a multi-instrumentalist and composer for film and television.

From Saturday Night Live to the Soho and Sedona International Film Festivals, his music has accompanied productions on the the small and silver screens.  Beyond his work in film and television, Will’s music and arrangements have appeared in hundreds of commercial spots for networks and brands like Mercedes, Arby’s, CBS, and the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. He has spoken on film music at the Institute of Production and Recording, Bethel University, McNally Smith School of Music, and the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Film Festival.  

Will grew up in Minneapolis and began producing music at the age of 14. Studying classical piano and head banging on stage with indie punk acts, his musical influences ran the gamut of jazz and rock to big band and orchestral styles.  Following a music composition degree from St. John’s University, he moved to Los Angeles and spent several months working under composing veteran Jeff Rona, whose work appears on blockbusters such as Gladiator, Black Hawk Down, and The Prince of Egypt.  Will later moved back to his native Minnesota home where he met his wife and planted roots. He now writes for film and commercial productions all over the US and has become a go-to composer for his bombastic orchestral, electronic, and rock-infused approach to underscore.

It makes sense that the young guns that make up the electronic duo Young Wolf Hatchlings went to elementary school together. Though they traveled the same road, their paths never crossed until University when Jarrel Young and Waqaas Hashmi officially met, and realized they had not only similar upbringings, but a similar taste and love for music. Fans of early dance music, hip hop, rock and simple pop – Michael Jackson, Jamiroquai, Common, The Neptunes, Simply Red, Eminem, Timbaland, Korn, Missy Elliot & Outkast are on their turntable – Young Wolf Hatchlings have turned their unreserved appreciation for all kinds of music into an EDM wonder.

Young Wolf Hatchlings began as part of a team of up-and-coming producers working out of Dream House Studios in Toronto; the studio best known for recording work by The Weekend, Crystal Castles, METZ and many others.

The Dream House family took the Hatchlings under their wings, and mentored the gifted duo, helping to sharpen their obvious talent and skill. Absorbing all the incredible music that surrounded them, Young Wolf Hatchlings expanded their musical horizons and influences and learned everything they could from the diverse assortment of artists that passed through the Studio each week.

Things changed quickly for Young Wolf Hatchlings in the summer of 2012; they were approached by studio mate Thomas D’Arcy (former frontman of Small Sins and bass player for K-OS) who recognized not only their intuitive skill at HEARING great melody, but also admired their drive. He had them do a dub-step re-work of his song “You Lovely You,” a track that had just been featured in the latest Telus TV commercial, which opened a very wide door for YWH.

They tweaked Tom’s soulful guitars and energetic vocals to make a version of the track that quickly became a fan favourite. The duo’s first released single, “Young Wolf Hatchlings & Thomas D’Arcy – You Lovely You,” was a game changer. The once ‘behind-the-scenes’ young producers emerged on to the electronic dance music landscape as full-fledged artists with a following.

“You Lovely You” has received favourable reviews from tastemaker blogs and audiences alike, as their fan base continues to grow every day (as evidenced by their increasing social media presence). In addition, Young Wolf Hatchlings re-mix of “You Lovely You” has been featured in a wide range of media outlets, from BMX bike commercials to Call of Duty fan videos.

Inspired, always, to make music, Young Wolf Hatchlings live by the credo to be true to their own instincts: “We follow whatever inspires us, it could be anything from a melody, to how a certain type of drum sound makes us feel. We always leave space for each other’s individual creativity, and let the song blossom naturally. Somewhere along the process, we usually start humming vocal melodies and singing, bringing new energy to the track. We then ride this out and continue building the energy, enjoying the process and appreciating the freshness of a new track, which no one in the world has heard yet but us.”

In addition to continuing to produce songs for artists, YWH will soon be releasing Little Egg EP, which is a collection of feel-good electronic music. Young Wolf Hatchlings is a songwriting-production powerhouse, destined for your future!

The Immediate are a three-piece indie, power pop band from Mold in north Wales.

We release our Mold EP on Friday 3rd March 2017. The EP will be available to buy on limited edition CD and digitally via bandcamp / iTunes etc.

Mold features 4 brand new recordings, 3 of which are exclusive to the EP.

Lead track, What’s The Matter Kevin Jones?, is a song about some of the kids we went to the Alun School with, who weren’t as fortunate as us and didn’t make it into their 30’s. 

Light Dimensions is the first song we wrote when we reconvened after a long hiatus.

Manbuoy is the title track of our forthcoming debut album, however it does not feature on the album itself. It’s a mostly spoken-word piece that exaggerates all of its writer’s worst qualities.

Mold was recorded at Orange Sound Studios in Penmaenmawr, North Wales by Russ Hayes, who has worked on recordings by Peaness, Campfire Social, Kidsmoke, Catfish and the Bottlemen and Billy Bibby and the Wry Smiles.

The sleeve design was done by Paul Maurice from Wrexham. It’s a detail of Shire Hall, the brutalist former seat of Flintshire County Council that sits on a hill, above Mold town centre.

The Mold EP will be launched at a hometown gig at Theatr Clwyd, Mold on Friday, 3rd. March. We’ll be joined by our friends Campfire Social and Skellums. Tickets are £7 and available here:

We originally split in 1997 due to frustration, an argument over a mouth organ and the success of Stereophonics.

We released one single (unaccountably popular in Sweden), made every conceivable mistake in the How To Be A Successful Indie Band handbook, toured with some excellent bands (Mansun, 60ft Dolls, Dodgy) and flickered out, leaving behind the memory of some great gigs, a few fine songs, and little else.

In March 2016, we reconvened to repair friendships and renew tinnitus. New songs came much more easily than the old ones, probably because we are playing to please only ourselves - with no thoughts of success or acclaim - for the first time in our existence.

There is more truth and resonance in our songs now than ever before. And power. And invention. We write songs about hope and love in the face of the moribund, daily grind. 

You will possibly hear fragments and echoes of the following artists in our sound (The Jam, Wire, XTC, Pixies, Badfinger, REM, Dr Feelgood, Small Faces, Husker Du, The Who, Ride, Big Star, The Cure, Joy Formidable, The Go-Betweens, Teenage Fanclub), but nothing has been plagiarised or misappropriated to mask a deficiency of our own ideas.

In It for the Chicks is a three-piece Rock ‘n’ Roll act from Atlanta, GA. They have been gigging in and around Atlanta since forming in October of 2011, and are nearing the completion of their debut album. Taylor Long – 26 – The son of a Methodist Minister, Taylor Long grew up listening to Gospel and Soul in Church every Sunday. Gospel and Soul turned him on to Blues, Rock ‘n’ Roll and Hip-Hop. Long picked up the guitar at a young age and has been playing, singing and writing original records as long as he can remember. A Lawrenceville native, Long has lived in Georgia all his life. He enrolled at Georgia State University in 2006 after spending some time away from school to focus on one of his early music projects, Hemp Street Rhythmz. Before graduating, Long decided he was finished with school and dedicated his life to making music. His mission is to inspire the uninspired in the same way his muses have inspired him. Long began recording his original works as a solo artist with the intent of putting a band together. He met a drummer named Joey Nappo in June of 2011.

Joey Nappo – 24 – Joey Nappo is one of four siblings, a small part of a large Italian-American family that has been rooted in Atlanta for decades. He grew up around music, playing guitar and filling in on drums at family gatherings for his uncle, famed rock producer Sal Nappo (credits: DMB, Matchbox 20, Elliot Smith). While attending Lakeside High School, he pursued a career in acting and modeling. Nappo’s acting credits include We Are Marshall, My Super Psycho Sweet 16 and The Vampire Diaries. After graduating from Lakeside, Nappo moved to New York City and found modeling projects. He traveled the world as a runway model and continues to get film, television and print work. During down time on sets, Nappo found he was unable to avoid making music. Upon meeting Taylor Long, he committed himself to playing drums professionally. Nappo and Long called themselves In It for the Chicks. They began gigging in and around Atlanta while recording in Sal Nappo’s home studio, all the while looking for a bassist to complete the project. They met a bassist named Danny Rhodes in October of 2011.

Danny Rhodes – 21 – Danny Rhodes is the youngest of four siblings from a long line of musical talent. Rhodes played bass in a band called IntelloRhythymEclectic (I.R.E.) that was billed to play with In It for the Chicks on October 7th, 2011 at Peachtree Tavern in Buckhead. Rhodes approached Long and Nappo about their lack of bass, and soon found himself rehearsing with them at Sal’s house. They performed publicly for the first time at an open mic at Tin Roof Cantina, where Long and Nappo had met, on November 6th of 2011. In It for the Chicks headlined at VINYL as a three-piece just a few weeks later. Rhodes’s musical talents far exceed the bass guitar – he is a prolific guitarist, pianist, drummer and songwriter who has made significant contributions to writing In It for the Chicks’s new material. He has left I.R.E. and is taking an indefinite sabbatical from Georgia State University to pursue a professional career in music with In It for the Chicks.

Starting out as a simple bedroom studio project, guitarist Keshav Dhar has seen Skyharbor quickly evolve into one of India’s hottest metal prospects, with huge admiration coming in from some of the biggest names in metal worldwide.

An astonishing amount of buzz also surrounded the band's first ever performance at the Bacardi NH7 Festival in Pune, India earlier this month, where they played to over 1,000 people and were one of the weekend’s highlights.

The long awaited debut album from Skyharbor promises to be a landmark release for the Indian independent music scene, in no small part thanks to the incredible number of international guest appearances it will see, including the likes of Marty Friedman (ex Megadeth), Daniel Tompkins (ex TesseracT), Vishal J. Singh (Amogh Symphony) and Sunneith Revankar (Bhayanak Maut).

Skyharbor will release the debut album ‘Blinding White Noise: Illusion & Chaos’ worldwide via Basick Records in early 2012.

A passionate musician since childhood, David Gonzalez is an accomplished composer based in Los Angeles whose work has appeared in both television and film. 
 
Mesmerized by John Williams' scores to the original Star Wars trilogy as a child, David began writing his own compositions in grade school. He eventually found his way to the film scoring department at Berklee College of Music, where he earned his BM in Film Scoring. 
 
Now in Los Angeles, David has put his skills and passion as a composer to good use in a variety of projects. From feature films like Fight to the Finish and Odd Brodksy to commercials for Rit Dye, David's music enriches and enlivens the pictures on the screen. His work can also be heard on Switched at Birth and How I Met Your Mother, helping to bring these popular small-screen stories to life.
 
David is passionate about writing music across all genres, as evidenced by his work composing for movie trailers, wedding processionals, orchestras, rock bands and special events. 
 
David currently resides in Los Angeles, where he continues to work on a variety of film and television projects.

Endah N Rhesa is a husband & wife duo from South Tangerang, West Java, comprising acoustic guitar, bass and vocal. With Endah’s soothing voice and minimalist instrument, they tries to bring out many genres of music such as ballads, jazz, blues, rock & roll. Endah N Rhesa loves to explore any kind of music and bring out their references with their own style. 
In 2009, the first album "Nowhere to Go" was released by indie label demajors and sold approximately 25.000 CDs and still growing. They achieved Rolling Stone Editor’s Choice Award as Rookie of the Year and AMI Awards for Best Alternative Album. In 2010, they released their second album "Look What We've Found" and third album, "Escape", in 2013. They also contributed as music director on movie "Cita-citaku Setinggi Tanah" (Stepping on the Flying Grass) directed by Eugene Panji.
Endah N Rhesa build their fanbase through social media (internet) and awarded as a “Best Musician Successfully Build a Career From Social Media” by Salingsilang.com.  They also build community, small coffee shop “Ear House” (Endah And Rhesa House), near their home in Pamulang, South Tangerang, to support local scene and give chances for new talents to perform. 


ARCANE ROOTS set to release debut mini album, the awesome ‘Left Fire’ on Feb 21st

ARCANE ROOTS are a very new London based 3 piece who came together in 2009 and are now already set to release their quite incredible debut mini album ‘Left Fire’. Influenced by the likes of Fall of Troy, Foals, Refused and At the Drive-In/The Mars Volta this stunning record manages to be ambitious and pop, heavy and epic, comfortingly familiar and something completely unique - fresh in equal measure and all at the same time.

As Andrew (vocals and guitar) explains, the meanings behind the songs do vary, but have a common thread of working out how to understand the world around you. ‘’In this town of such weather’ is about change, starting again and finding something/someone new to put your energy into. The lyrics were written in Amsterdam (hence the Dutch titled intro) during Autumn 2009. The autumn and winter months are always so inspiring and exciting, it’s about being in such a beautiful place at that time of year and finding a new sense of clarity and direction, and not wanting to lose it.’ While he goes on, regarding ‘You Are’, ‘When this song was first written, it was about trying to figure out what you want from a relationship and how futile that is. But it eventually became (after being re-written more than once) a manual of finding what you want by not looking for it and building something strong from the beginning’. And on the awesome ‘Rouen’, ‘The demise of a relationship in a small town in France, and everything that comes along with it’.

The 5 main tracks are ‘book-ended’ by 3 smaller musical pieces (marked i/ii/iii). These blend musically and thematically throughout the whole album, making it more of a seamless journey and far more than just any regular debut record. Mile-high choruses clash against angular 3 way vocal screams and shouts, packed full of hooks and driving, piercing guitar riffs and a rhythm section constantly changing its mind where to drop you off at. A stunning and brilliant release, one where you hear something new and exciting on each listen. ARCANE ROOTS are a band to cherish and be excited about, and this first release is just the tip of their massive potential.
2011 should be prepared for something very, very special.

Live wise, even though they have only been a touring band for a small while, the band have already toured and played shows with the likes of To The Bones, Sucioperro, Tangled Hair, Hold Your Horse Is and Pharaohs. Look out for headline dates and more support tours before and around the mini album release (all TBA in the coming weeks).
