The release sounds outrageously expressive, it's hard to put this any other way: Peter Clamat makes powerful beats. Whether using his MPC or in combination with his creative added synth,s he produced some beauty, catchy loops that are simply intoxicating. 

Listening to this Maxi you will find the tremendous remix of Nowakowski, a polish artist based in Gothenburg, who drops a dark solid version of the track Landsight.

MIKILI – Bicycle Music Mix #02 ist am Start und ein herzliches Dankeschön geht an Hendrik Vogel @hendrikvogel aka @nugath! Der studierte Szenograf veranstaltet in Karlsruhe zwei Mal im Monat gemeinsam mit Jago Partys in der Fettschmelze. Dort laden die beiden illustre Gäste wie Move D., Gerd Janson, Barnt oder Dj Sotofett ein. Hendrik gibt Ableton Workshops im ZKM in Karlsruhe und kümmert sich seit Jahren um die lokale DJ Szene. Auch an eigenen Sounds schraubt er immer wieder, die Platte "No Mountain" erschien erst kürzlich auf Big Bait Records. Hendrik fährt ein Rennrad von Focus – fast schon ein Oldtimer.

Q/A:
- Where did your musical career start?
It was in 1996 in my home city Karlsruhe. Sitting in front of a minidisc player, me and my school buddies made loops recording them then on a tape. At that time already we played Garage House, Drum-n-Base and Ninja Tune shit creating crazy mix tapes with self-made samples and children’s records in the Studio from Nils, who runs the BigBait Records. Following a friend’s advice I laid my hands on an Atari computer from in my parents’ office. I installed Cubase, got synths and samples and from that time on there was no turning back.
- What genres influenced you the most?
There are too many to count … To be honest, the process of being influenced by music has never stopped. At the beginning, however, it was the 80s music from America, as I heard it playing out of American soldiers’ SUV’s, and film music such as Star Wars and The Never Ending Story - spherical stuff that touched me.
Then it was the east coast rap from the mid 90s, so-12 drums slick samples, the golden era and not to forget the entire experimental stuff from Ninja Tune and Rephlex. It really was other-worldly music coming over the sea from England. I also liked the „relaxation records“. I could listen to the sound of the rain for hours.
So, to sum things up, it was the time in the mid-, end 90s, as I was very open and influenceable at that time.
And wait a minute, I almost forgot Theo Parrish, the master of the masters!
- Could you describe your sound?
Well, it is always very subjective, a feeling I have when i’m making music, a search for good loops that carry me further till a music piece is created. It is hard to describe precisely, it just happens. Sometimes these are particular experiences, people, dreams or certain music that awake the urge in me to be creative. You could compare that with David Lynch.
The Scherbe-sound is not stressful, fast-paced but rather reflective and meditational without, however, giving up on loud drums and bass bins. I also like pitched-down sounds and when I randomly find some funny samples that loop away so to speak.
When I dj, I have more deliberate preferences that go away from the straight forward house sets. It is also depending on the kind of the event I play, the size of the club etc.
At the moment I love to play 7“ from the 80s thus going back to the my roots (Funk, Boogie, Reggae, Italo) but I’m also happy when I can play at chill out floors where there is no need of a beat or people dancing (the chill out rooms are back, aren’t they?).
- What are your sets about (musically or even narratively?)?
The mix is a very special experience. Last year I had the honor to open an outdoor floor of a 24h party (5 Years Uncanny Valley) at midnight. The guys from Uncanny asked we what kind of stuff I would like to play and I answered, Vaporwave (Wiki-Link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporwave). They agreed and asked what that would be. I guess, a few people were surprised as the music didn’t correspond to their dancing expectations. I’ve been collecting masses of tracks on Bandcamp since 2014 that I just mixed together using two laptops and iTunes spicing everything up with effects from the good old Pioneer mixer.
I definitely wanted to beginn at the zero point starting with simple noises, nature, rain forest slowly bringing in melodies and recognizable loops and only after that beats and a certain amount of kitsch that is kind of a part of Vaporwave.
To a certain extent, it was important for me to present this genre or the internet-reddit-hype - whatever it is called in Germany - to a wider audience, just to play this kind of music. I, personally, was fascinated by this scene and the glitch-anime-segasaturn-aesthetics as well as by the its approach to unscrupulously use everything that sounds good when pitched down.
My podcast should be listened to when in the supermarket, smoking in the morning, when a video recorder hangs or when playing Pokemon shortly before being hit by a Range Rover!
