The hairdressers of London
Were sent home by the dozen
Did not travel in fine cars
Sipping wine in quaint wine bars.

They were not sky bound
Travelling above the ground
In rockets sprouting flames
Firing up through space-bound lanes.

Instead they travelled in a ship
With sailors young and fit
Calling out from a high mast
As the land receded fast.

While the hairdressers sat cold 
Locked up in a stinking hold
In amongst them Little Molly
Clutching her beloved dolly.

The ship sailed on through the night

Susannah climbs stairs late at night

Writer of prose and poetry since mid-1960s. Given an acoustic guitar in 1978 by long-suffering sister. Many songs produced that way. More recently, guitar skills all but faded, using GarageBand and Logic Pro to put words to music.
