Poem to Nihilism

I was commissioned by the River Wear Festival ('85?) - to compose a piece for their opening ceremony... I was (I'm sure) the last person they asked coz there were better musicians around at the time... Anyway I borrowed the keys for the local rehearsal room and found all kinds of instruments there - first time I ever played keyboards - plus a 4 track cassette recorder and so I worked during the night till 4 am. The composition is in 3 Movements, 
1. Whale Song  2. Pollution 3. Requiem. 
Ringo Starr's Octopus Garden was chosen as the opener for the Festival, then the dancers would dance to my composition but they only played the first two minutes... Such is life... So found the composition on an old cassette and gave it new life... Best to just chill and close your eyes imagine swimming with the whales... I hope I've made a sad and contemplative piece.
