Asking to attentively look into the blurry picture, the creators report something meaningful in the language of dub-techno. It is impossible to say exactly what all of the glitches, muffled fog loops, light noise and voice samples contain. Perhaps this is a tribute to the good old Detroit together with the longing for the departed, or maybe it is the personification of a new reality with its social indecision and fragmentation. This knowledge seems to flow in the fibres of the subconscious, picking out the answer inside the listener. Despite the noticeable anxiety of the ambient background, the threadlike pulse of life is performed by the warm chords, expressing hope for a better future.

Wait, what? A new Quince? Call the newspapers! It has been YEARS since the Dutch techno producer from Utrecht found the peace of mind to actually release something. In fact, the Anthology of Interest EP on the illustrious NOWHERE series is his first proper record in eight years. His daytime job as a medic kept him rather occupied. You might remember those times when there was a pandemic around?

We missed Quince, even though his sound is rather timeless. Fluid Detroit infused techno with pulsating rhythms, alluring keyboard stabs and sultry basslines, like on Ghost In The Machine and the extremely funky The Butterjunk Effect.

Opening track Meanwhile has that hazy peak time feel you love so much while dancing with your eyes closed. But the winner of this very versatile EP may just be Space Pilot 3000. A futuristic and jumpy electro-track where the worlds of Drexciya and Juan Atkins collide in a blinding orange supernova. Can someone call a doctor!

Automatic Writing is set to release Murphie Cooper & Darween's 'What's Wrong With The Typewriter' EP on May 22, accompanied by a remix from Bruno Pronsato.

Bruno Pronsato's remix of 'Just Get Full' takes the original track and injects it with his own unique flair while staying true to the core elements of the original. The remix is more stripped down than the original, emphasizing minimal percussion and subtle textural details that add depth and dimension to the track. Pronsato's use of glitched-out percussive hits and intricate jazzy keys is a nod to his experimental tendencies. The result is a hypnotic groove that will keep dancers on the floor until the wee hours of the morning.

The original version of 'Just Get Full' has a more straightforward techno approach with a solid four-on-the-floor beat. The spoken word vocal is the track's centerpiece, providing a hypnotic and almost meditative quality to the music. Murphie Cooper & Darween's use of jazzy keys and swirling synths adds a dreamy atmosphere to the track, creating a sense of escapism that is perfect for the dancefloor.

While the original version of 'Just Get Full' is a great track in its own right, Bruno Pronsato's remix takes it to another level with its intricacy and attention to detail. Pronsato's groove-driven interpretation maintains the hypnotic spoken word vocal from the original but adds a touch of delicacy with jazzy keys and smooth subs, creating a seamless blend of minimal techno and jazz. 

The remix and the rest of the EP are set for release on May 22 via Automatic Writing.

I was dancing when I was out, I was dancing when I was in. Is it strange to dance so late? Is it strange to dance so soon? Cosmic dancers always ball. Dancing with themselves, dancing space away. Right into the smallest hole a human brain can create: the inner cosmos, a psychedelic region, where time gets space and space turns to haze.

Berlin based producer TM Solver is such a kind of cosmic dancer. He has danced late. And so soon. Since 2008 he released yearly one, sometimes two albums via the German Berlin School dedicated label Syngate and its experimental subdivision Luna. Intensely meandering synthesizer journey music, that is pirouetting on inner universes, genuinely crafted in the tradition of Berlin School and Krautrock. You can catch the unearthly nuances of Can and the spaciously swinging psychedelic corners of Amon Dül, Embryo, Tangerine Dream, or Klaus Schulze. As TM Solver has been a lover of analog synthesizers for almost 30 years, all pulsates on analogue sound orbs under the zigzagging guidance of machines like Moog Prodegy, Korg MS20 and GRP A4, as well as state-of-the-art systems as ASM Hydrasynth and Korg Wavestate. When he got in touch with the Berlin club scene and all its propelling grooves in 2006, a new rhythmic universe joined his vast musical space of sound latitudes. “Tinkering around with sound structures is my thing. Leading the listener into a combination of music and sound spaces.“ he reveals on his emotive musical art. How affecting it works, is now displayed with four epic compositions for R.i.O., Berlin Wedding’s label of novel ways for caved rhythmic patterns. Grooving between 90 to 240 BPM, they offer a vast variety of emotional landscapes, slowing down, rolling up, drifting into genuinely layered tonality magic. Headspace music for vigilant wanderers. Utterly psychedelic and yet so clear. His R.i.O. debut “Subtraktiv Additiv“ comes with five additional remixes, fashioned by R.i.O. conspirator Benedikt Frey, Amsterdam based DJ and producer Mayo, “Die Orakel” magician O-Wells from Frankfurt, Siamese Twin Records co-runner Sunju Hargun, and the versatile club and beyond production duo Red Axes. They all respect TM Solver’s analogue zones and pitch them into the 115 to 130 BPM districts, while transcending his absorbing synth compositions into the world of nervous acid-laden ambient, slow-mo techno, industrial bass, post-trance, and all that hallucinogenic echo house. Levon Vincent is on production for this reversioning 12” of Skudge’s 2010 techno-house Convolution. Is there another producer working today that's a more exciting prospect to hear reimagining this classic cut.

The resulting two sides of vinyl give that late 00s Levon feel of rhythm and pace, meeting Skudge’s hallmark sound.

It’s been over a decade since Skudge took charge and urged us to "give it on up". Convolution' forged two distinct genres while avoiding the trap of losing the attitude of both. The track was a strong take on Techno and House simultaneously and brought something new and interesting to the table.

Fast forward a decade since this effort marked the beginning of the Skudge journey, which not only caught the middle ground between Techno and House but also the ears of fellow producer Levon Vincent. Levon is the master of oceanic underwater funk, drawing in strands of dub, techno, and house.

Levon delivers two distinct versions. Side A, Scream Version recalls something like A.J. Sounds’ minimal techno classic from 1995; Basemental. Flipping over to the B-side, one can hear the Convolution atmosphere echoing between Levon and Skudge respectively.
