Title track 'Sunder' is rougher, more urgent and raw, more beat-oriented, but still retains the same warmth and emotive character that he is renowned for.

Young One (feat Amelka May)

Written, Performed, Mixed and Mastered by Peter Ibbetson.

'Opening with a circling, polyrhythmic figure, Ibbetson artfully builds a thick veneer of intricately layered synths as light flashes of sound are joined by vivid, twinkling notes. It's a striking opening with Ibbetson able to evoke a real sense of wonder. Suddenly, the winding sonic layers collapse with a jolt as a bass drop and a thumping beat pulls the track into a deep, subterranean cavern. Streams of sparkling, cascading synths like rivulets of fresh water work to re-hydrate the track as Ibbetson gently guides the song back above ground.

As with all of the tracks on Rivals, "FortyFour" is an impeccably layered slice of modern electronic music with each constituent part expertly spliced together. It's intelligent. It's original. It's excellent.' - Pop Matters

Following on from the ‘Rivals’ EP, ‘Control Yourself’ is a heady mix of analog synthesisers, live drums and expansive soundscapes creating a multi textured, layered journey through ambient, house, post rock and techno.

‘Control Yourself’ is an evolvement in concept, bringing together influence from Boards of Canada, Caribou, Tortoise, Four Tet, LCD Soundsystem and Aphex Twin. Speaking on the essence of the new project, Peter Ibbetson adds: “Control Yourself is a reaction to the idea of restricting yourself in creating music, forcing yourself to break away from your creative habits, and open your ears and head to new possibilities.”

Peter Ibbetson has cut his teeth already touring regularly as part of the live outfits for George Fitzgerald and Makeness, so it’s no surprise to see his original work emerging fully formed and thriving. With more live shows on the horizon 2019 looks promising.
