This month we start with a great Dj and producer @Steve Slight

His father and sister played several instruments and his mother had a Roland synthesizer. 
He was 7 years old when it all started for him.
He tried to play the Roland and experimented by manipulating sounds and tunes. 
Trial and error teached him how to make inspiring sounds.
Sounds for him are a very interesting things.
Sounds, not only of music, but also from daily life stuff: 
footsteps in a parking lot, wind blowing or even a ticking clock.
Later he discovered Techno and eventually started playing.
He was amazed by all the tracks that he could share with the crowd, sounds, effects, the vibe, the way people reacted to it, and most of all, what was happening inside of him.
He wanted to make this kind of music. 
He was mesmerized...
So he bought my first gear, it was a Roland MC909 and Logic audio.
He started to experiment a bit and 
learned the tricks and trade by himself and through a music forum were he  dropped my first try-outs with Ramon Tapia.
He was my very first guide.
He would invite me a few times in his studio at USA Import Antwerp and 
share with me a lot of inspiration and knowledge about music.
When it comes to music I get inspired by all kinds of events that occur in his life. 
He believes that his personal emotions are the basis for any musical creation.
He might be a dreamer, but when he feel joy or anger, or when other emotions run high, he feels creativity tickle and that are the best moments to make a powerful track.
And sometimes, like a writers' block, there comes nothing at all. 

And that is also good.

Atist Bio:

Inspired by the infamous Amsterdam GZG underground parties, clubbing
experiences in Berlin and endless after hours in his former bar27 basement, Olivier
Weiter has grown to become more than an established name in the Dutch house &
techno scene.

Olivier played at numerous clubs and festivals worldwide. From Canada, Brazil, Argentina,
India, Mexico and all over Europe, to many shows in his home country like Awakenings
Festival, Loveland, Welcome to the Future and Cocoon

His ability to take people on a musical journey has been proven more than once with
boundless marathon sets at Berlin clubs like Wilde Renate, Katerblau & Sysiphos and his
all day & night shows at the infamous Thuishaven and at De Marktkantine in Amsterdam.

Olivier started his own label "WEITER" which provide a platform for both young talented
producers and established names in the scene, who all have one thing in common -
reflecting the sound that Olivier wants to transmit at that moment. The releases are
getting lots of support from a wide range of DJ's, and hitting the charts frequently.
Recently, the Mees Salomé remix from "Toyger" reached number one at the Melodic
House & Techno top 100 on Beatport.

In addition to key releases on his own label, production wise Olivier has also had releases
on acclaimed labels such as Sudbeat, Einmusika Recordings, Filth on Acid, Parquet
Recordings and Ritual.

Besides the label, Olivier hosts a monthly radio show, representing the sound of WEITER -
a blend of his personal favorite tracks, live recordings and guest mixes. The show can be
heard weekly on Dutch national radio SLAM!, monthly on ProtonRadio, Soundcloud &
iTunes, and other worldwide radiostations synced by Syndicast.

In the early 90’s Peter falls in love with electronic music as escapism from his troubled and abusive childhood. Underground electronic music was new, exciting and Peter’s rebellious soul was soon captivated. His love for music has been constant ever since.

Headphones and listening excessively to loud music not only served its purpose of exclusion from the world, but this was the beginning of his musical journey. After listening to single tracks, he soon moved on to DJ sets, as the long journeys and the artistic freedom that characterized these were something he could strongly relate to.

This was when he started his vast and multi-genre vinyl collection and soon after moved on to playing and mixing these. He found extreme joy in music and started to build his own world which orbited around it. Mixing different genres was euphoric, he became a fanatic collector and a passionate disc jockey.

His sets are reflections of his current state of mind and he often improvises when in the booth to spice it up. He is always lost in the moment and instantly connects with the crowd. The music is a manifestation of Peter’s emotions.

He favors extended sets, relishing the chance to truly exhibit his talent and deliver captivating mixes across a spectrum of house music genres. He's a versatile house DJ, adept at navigating various styles within the genre. His preference leans towards emotionally charged yet dynamic house music, seamlessly blending deep house, progressive house, and organic house. Occasionally, he infuses melodic elements to sustain the dancefloor's energy.

He has dedicated over 20 years of his life to electronic music and as a result, now manages three labels plus the Truesounds Music Promotion and Management. Hard work finally paid off.

He is more of a DJ but recently started to focus on production as well. His own releases are created in collaboration with co-producers and sounds engineers.

Connecting with people and creating long-lasting memories is what really makes him tick. The DJ booth is his true home.
