We’re excited to share the full recording of @djdissolve playing on the @canyonvibration main stage!

dj dissolve is 4th generation Portlander, Producer, DJ, and cofounder of the artist collective Soul House. Inspired by the hypnotic and connective power of electronic music, he uses dance, DJing and production as tools for community healing and social activism.

While he is a big proponent of supporting the local scene, his taste for the underground was heavily shaped by a 2019 academic semester spent abroad studying in Frankfurt, Germany, where he was finally able to grasp the global influence of Chicago house and Detroit techno.

He is inspired by music’s power to heal and connect, and he draws inspiration from the diverse sounds, dances, and spirits that have been emitted from the Willamette Valley for millennia, he views his time on earth as a continuation of this ancient tradition and through every set he seeks to honor the selectors, dancers, and spirit guides who have come before him.

Whether he's behind the mixing board, putting on a record, or cueing up with CDJs, dj dissolve's singular goal remains unchanged: to make his call to the dance floor irresistible.

US artist Danny Daze, out of Miami, has long been affiliated with the more electronic side of dance music. From the early days in the electro scene and more abstract forms of techno, the Omnidisc boss has covered a lot of musical ground since then. Helping to reimagine the underground landscape, Danny was pivotal in the early 2010s club sound with releases on Hot Creations, Ellum Audio, and Kompakt. He soon turned his attention back to the obscure side of the dancefloor and IDM. As much a music lover and dancer as he is an artist, he knows exactly what works on the dancefloor and his recent album “::BLUE::” on his own Omnidisc imprint exemplifies this ethos. From the Lock Tavern via The Gun to spoons…

Family Silver are Mr Nick ‘The Gun’ Stephens and Casper ‘Volte Face’ Clark.

Nick was the publican at The Gun, a much-loved Hackney institution that recently closed its doors – more on that here for those who have been living under a rock. Nick’s excellent Netil radio show can also be found here.


 
Casper, is based in Clapton and was the music programmer for Camden institution The Lock Tavern where our paths originally crossed – most of the time being kicked out whilst DJing. Casper’s shared stages with Justice, Jeff Mills, Helena Hauff, Daniel Avery and many more and is also known for his long-running BleeD events via which he collaborated with labels like Blackest Ever Black, PAN and Downwards. Both share a love for “v lo-fi early eighties sound, kosmische, post-punk and scuzzy electronics,” with Nick’s influences ranging from 80s TV themes and Giorgio Moroder to The KLF, while Casper was shaped in his youth by electronic acts like Leftfield, Underworld, and William Orbit with DJ Hell’s International Deejay Gigolo Records becoming a huge influence later on.

Their sound sits between post-punk and the electronic… so with that in mind let’s give it a listen shall we?
