Welcome to our friend @tenziasounds to this 27th episode of the Herbarium series. 🥁 
He recorded a journey containing many own compositions next to carefully selected gems, fitting nicely together to tell the story of the flower Bellis Perennis. 

Here is the little backstory about his choise:
For this episode, the daisy—Gänseblümchen in German—serves as inspiration. A small and familiar flower, yet one that holds an almost otherworldly presence when viewed through the eyes of a child. It was the first flower Tenzia remembers noticing while exploring the world with boundless imagination, back when the size of things was still unknown and a simple bloom could become an entire universe. This mix draws from those memories—of wonder, scale, and the strange way perception can stretch and transform. An element of mystery and eeriness flows through the selections, but also a playful energy, reflected not only in surreal soundscapes but in a rhythmic, danceable pulse that keeps everything in motion, mirroring the fantastical, strange, and sometimes silly stories once imagined while lost in thought.

Tenzia is a Munich-based audiovisual artist exploring the boundaries between sound, structure, and perception. The work thrives in contrasts, merging the organic with the synthetic, the delicate with the abrasive. As a producer, Tenzia focuses on intricate sound design, immersive grooves, and psychedelic sonic environments, drawing from techno, psychedelic, house, experimental, drum and bass, dub, hip-hop, tek, breakcore, IDM, and beyond. Productions and performances blur genres and challenge conventions, creating deeply textured and emotive soundscapes.
Both visually and sonically, the work defies conventional patterns, shifting and evolving with each project. As part of the Munich-based label and collective IO Records, a constant push toward immersive experiences continues to blur the lines.

Herbarium No 27 - Tenzia - Bellis Perennis

Next up in our mix series is fleika - hailing from Prague. fleika grew up during the heyday of Prague’s rave culture, coming of age as a DJ in booths built for a single night only. The Czech techno renaissance formed him, then the newly-born club culture embraced him as one of its main protagonists. The Ankali resident digs anything that kicks, melts or makes one’s mind trip, but mainly thrives on diving into the vast depths of hypnotic and psychedelic techno – as deep as it gets.

This mix is a recording from fleika’s closing set from his ‘Archiv Technologi’ night at Ankali after DJ Nobu, a couple of weeks ago. With a steady hand, he guides the night to a beautiful end, drifting through airy textures and weightless atmospheres. As dawn approaches and the first light seeps in, his soundscape gently carries dancers back to reality—sofly touching down at planet earth again.

For our latest Bleep Mix instalment, Sandwell District come through with a hefty programming of dark rollers fulfilling that promise of reinvigorated purpose they mentioned before: “Having a good time”. And with a wealth of exclusive unheard material it’s hard to refute the mission statement. Dropping straight into the cavernous environs of an unreleased Regis side Frosty Jack’s, the selection rides a restrained line building tension through a number of Nastia Reigel tracks deployed with utmost precision before upping its stride with Luke Slater’s Planetary Assault Systems and quickly landing first peak from The Wizard himself, with Jeff Mills' slamming ‘93 cut Step to Enchantment (Stringent). Taking in a track from their comrade Surgeon’s forthcoming album, as well as the simmering acid of their own tune Hidden, Sandwell District bring it back round full circle via two further unreleased reworks of heroes Meat Beat Manifesto providing a breakbeat singed rupture to close out the proceedings with the vocal snatches of MBM’s Helter Skelter summing it all up really: “It's in my brain now. This is it!”

There is a big black heart in Barcelona that it is still beating. Three weeks later, we’re still digesting the magic that was the fourth edition of Mostra festival. From the most intimate listening moments to collective catharsis on the dancefloor, this year was something else.

Starting from the end this year, we’re proud to present the recorded closing set from Mostra's resident ABSIS, who delivered a deeply emotional finale that distilled everything Mostra stands for: a blend of force, finesse, energy and passion — all woven into one.

Across four editions, countless moments, different days and stages, ABSIS has always been there: reading the different dance floors, adapting, connecting the dots between sound and feelings. Being a resident is more than just playing; it’s embodying the festival’s pulse, giving it identity and continuity, and raising the collective experience to another level.

If you’ve journeyed with Mostra through the years, you know how central ABSIS (alongside Timnah and Patrick Russell) has been to shaping that Mostra spirit. If you haven’t yet, you may find the chance next year.

And now, for the first time: ABSIS closing the festival. A powerful tribute to what it means to support the local scene, not just by listing names from the city, but by creating moments like this one that matters.

After visiting the lakeside dreamland last year I couldn't help myself but imagine on the moment what I would play if I had the opportunity to perform there myself (as any DJ would, I guess). I had different archetypes of sets forming in the back of my mind for different times of the day possible, if the opportunity ever came one day. 
So when I got invited to play the opening of Floresta on Sunday, it first came as a bit of a surprise, but the surprise turned into excitement and it was time to prepare a special set where I could dig into my dub techno collection. 
So, I am very happy to share with you the recording of my set, where I finally had the chance to play slow, deep, dubby and sunny techno in such a setting.

Altinbas at Waking Life 2025, Sunday Floresta Opening

Berlin-based DJ Jesse G is known for her energetic, genre-spanning sets that surprise and delight crowds, her sound is a playful, wide-ranging medley of deep, metallic, trippy, groovy, jacking, and percussive techno, with diverse rhythms and a UK bass influence.

Her distinctive sound is also informed by an encyclopedic understanding of electronic music and from honing her craft over her nearly six years as an integral member of the staff at the hallowed Berlin record store, Hard Wax. In addition to having held down residencies at RSO Berlin and Tresor, she has played venues such as Berghain, De School, Open Ground, and Blitz Club; and graced festivals including ADE Het Weekend and Nachtiville.

Jesse shared some words about the mix:
“I wanted this mix to sound playful, energetic and organic with a few surprises here and then. It was also important to me to include many artists who inspired me in the last months - be it musically or / and also on a personal level, so this mix is also like a summary of my Summer and the past months.”

Peter Van Hoesen presents Uncovered 2008-2018 Vol. 1-3 - a three-part, 52 track compilation documenting his sound over ten years of the beloved Time To Express imprint. Consisting of Peter's unreleased tracks, rediscovered sketches and material from his live shows, Uncovered offers a coherent overview of his creative process during this period, deconstructing his inimitable aesthetic across three distinct volumes.

With the launch of Time To Express in 2008, Peter created a platform to explore the niche he had become increasingly drawn to - a sound that brings us from sweltering warehouse raves to the misty mountains of Japan, tracing the universal effects of psychedelic sound design and swirling, hypnotic techno throughout a global underground.

Whilst listening back to his old material, it became clear to Peter that this ten-year period formed its own chapter in his discography. Of the three volumes, each one chronicles a different aspect of his sound and can generally be separated into Vol. 1 consisting of ambient works, Vol. 2 of slower bpms and Vol.3 offering faster techno and breakbeats.

By assembling this into a compilation, he consolidates a formative phase of his artistry to paint a detailed picture of his musical approach during this period.

Time To Express will continue to cater to the most discerning techno fans, but with this compilation Peter extends an invitation to understand an important period for himself and the label, and in doing so, clears the way for new territory to be explored.

Together with Yves De Mey he is Sendai, a forward looking experimental outfit with releases on Editions Mego, Archives Intérieures, Konstrukt and Stroboscopic Artefacts. 

Since December 2024 he runs Memento Mastering, a mastering studio located in Ho Chi Minh City.
