An extension of a 1979 classic by Gina X Performance, the electro pioneers who fused Euro-disco synth pop with an arthouse performance sensibility and sexually provocative imagery. 'C'est La Vie Ma Cherie' showcases Gina Kikoine's much-imitated detached, narrative vocal style, set above an irresistible groove, lovingly given the contemporary dance floor touch by Peza. The song was dedicated to Quentin Crisp, the writer and self-styled 'stately homo', the 'No GDM' lyric and original title referring to the unattainable 'great dark man' of his sexual imaginings.

What better way to follow up Andy Meecham's (Chicken Lips / Emperor Machine) huge Gino Fontaine originals than a duo of remixes from Balearic chieftains Pete Herbert and Stratus. As one half of Reverso 68 alongside Phil Mison, and in his own right Pete has been behind a ton of mesmerising sunrise and sunset workouts, and he's more than delivered here - crisp and club ready percussion, those stark punk-funkin' guitars and his trademark synth work all conspire to cook up a storm on the floor. Martin Jenkins and Mat Anthony's Stratus outfit (remember their superb "Spring Tide EP" on Aficionado last year?) take a pop at the sublime Konkondo on the flip, and what a masterpiece it is! A ten minute, utterly absorbing and expertly evolving piece, which flips the darker elements of the original into a mesmerising, cinematic, early 90's style Balearic epic.

Sounding like a lost gem but made with classy contemporary production, this simple yet effective track has huge cross-over appeal full of rolling baselines, melodic synths, and a great male hook with shades of the 80ties Wang Chung classic "Dance Hall Days". Mr Capri keeps up the quality and shows personal style and pure imagination with second track "U Used To...", a very different hip hop take on the Spectrum/Coma Club classic by Ralphi Rosario - here sampled, stretched and edited to massive effect for the smiling dance floor.
