I thought I'd make a few adjustments and turn in a full vocal version, just because I love this tune too much. Wish I could've been there when Mancuso dropped it at the loft back in the day =) .... oh well....

Phonk D, born Dirk Bretträger, is a German DJ, producer, and label boss known for his signature blend of house, disco, funk, and deep grooves. Based in Darmstadt, he launched the label Footjob in 2014, a home for soulful, underground house music. He also co-founded Dedicate with Jofeca, focusing on instrumental beats and more experimental cuts.

Dirk’s journey began in the '90s within Frankfurt’s legendary club scene, where venues like Dorian Gray and Omen sparked a lifelong love for electronic music. This passion soon evolved into a career rooted in vinyl culture, party organization, and groove-driven sound. His deep respect for records and analog vibes has earned him recognition across the global house scene.

Talking about his own productions, these are warm, funky, and emotionally rich designed equally for the dancefloor and deep listening. To get a taste of his sound, check out Anoa (Future Disco), Cheek (Footjob), or Medusa track, featured on Running Back’s 10 Years of Kurzweil compilation.

Regularly spinning in European cities such as Tirana, Ibiza, Vienna, and Berlin, he brings an eclectic blend of Acid House, Nu-Disco, House, Electro, and Breakbeat—basically, anything with that indefinable magic.


A master of the unexpected, Peza’s sets are known for his signature edits—breathing new life into forgotten gems or obscure oddities and seamlessly weaving them into the mix. blending music together that you wouldn't necessarily expect, but somehow managing to make it work.

Remixes and collaboration credits include artists such as Gorillaz, Damon Albarn, Joe Goddard, Baba Ali, Greg Wilson, Black Grape, The Duke Spirit, Liela Moss, Dicky Trisco, Mike Smith (Gorillaz/Blur), amongst many others.
