I'll spare you my in depth introduction and just tell you to dive into this with the spirit of Halloween. Thanks for listening and thanks to our guests Elektric Surgery, Count Chadwyck, and Filmy Ghosts for joining us in this devilish creation. Since starting Plus 8 Records at the turn of the ‘90s, Richie Hawtin has shaped not just the sound of electronic music, but also the culture and industry around it, like few others. He developed the tool that went on to change the art of DJing (Final Scratch), established a seminal club night in Ibiza (ENTER.), built a veritable techno empire (M_nus), and most importantly, released some of the most memorable music in techno history. Now the latter doesn’t happen all too often these days, so we’re even more excited to present a brand new recording under a new alias, 80XX. ‘Crawlr’ is one of four 80XX tracks recorded in Berlin this year to coincide with the release of Hawtin’s new album, From My Mind To Yours – a raw banger that channels the energy of the early ‘90s while demonstrating how this Red Bull Music

I met Raf Simons years ago at 10 Days Of Techno in Ghent, Belgium. He sat for hours quietly listening to me until the early hours of the morning. Afterwards I found out that he was a huge fan of my Plastikman album ‘Consumed’ and linked by our shared love of music, art and fashion we stayed in contact and developed a great collaborative friendship!
Raf recently celebrated his first collection at the helm of Calvin Klein and not only invited me to perform at the after-party but also to create a special mix for the dinner he was planning as part of the celebration. Knowing that Raf is very open-minded to the outer reaches of cerebral Electronic Music, I felt it was appropriate to create a mix that weaved through some of my favourite Techno tracks that don’t always find their way into my normal four-to-the-floor club sets.

Everyone predicted it would someday arrive, but so few believed in the inevitable; for within the deepest recesses of people’s hearts and minds, the world's destruction was little more than a foolish and faraway myth. Nonetheless, the insinuations…the ghastly omens…were always there, whether in the way nature’s wrath surfaced through disasters or in the manner in which tyrants continued to rise tall and proud, with no apparent consequence to their shackling actions. However, when Earth’s cataclysmic conclusion finally hit, it manifested not so much through the rumblings of some inner, core force; tumultuous storms; famine; economic collapse; mind control...nuclear devastation. It came predominately from out the darkness of our soiled souls. We caused the end of the world by not caring, by letting charity, good will and compassion die. It was ironically our selfish obsessions for heartless conformity, for sadistic self-preservation that spawned our demise. 
This album’s tracks represent and punctuate the ultimate end to all ends, with all the melodious sorrow and impetuous anguish that humankind’s collective sins could ever dare conjure—and (bet your bottom dollar) will. Listen close. Listen hard. Learn and prophetically see and prepare, as each segment drags you deeper into the fetid, despairing annals of...the Apocalypse!

Another beautiful moment looped between the past, present and future at The Block Tel Aviv reminding me once again that the foundation of our scene, the club dance floor, should not be forgotten.  The night was a perfect synchronous moment between the audience and I, immersed together in warm frequencies emanating from a sound system impeccably curated by the clubs owner.  Nights like this, where we all disappear into the darkness together are what bought me to the dance floor in the first place. Here's four hours of pure modern Techno music, from my mind to yours!

BLOOD GUTS & GORE Sound Effects Library – Horror Flesh & Bone Cutting Human Torture Sounds [Preview]

My contribution to the Darksiders compilation, The Torture Chamber. Happy Halloween everyone ! 

The flagrum they whipped people with had them bleeding before they began to carry the crossbar ( about 100lbs ) to the last place they'd ever see. The nails weren't "nails". They were spikes. 5 -7 inches long. They drove them through nerves in the wrist and the ankles. People would suffocate if not held upright enough to breathe, so they would switch back and forth between the intense pain in the wrists and the feet to hold themselves up. When the guards would get bored and want to speed things up, they would break the victim's legs.  If gravity didn't kill them, the elements and dehydration did. Often taking up to 3 days. It was fucked!

The sight:
White lights are coming from neon tubes positioned in a way not to create any shadow, and the prisoner is dressed in completely white clothes.

Hearing:
The room is soundproof or alternatively it is located in a remote place where voices cannot be heard. In this latter scenario the guards stand in silence and use special padded shoes in order to avoid causing any noise.

All surfaces are smooth

The taste and smell:
Each day they are served white food, usually unseasoned rice to deprive them of the senses of taste and smell.

Although it may seem less formidable than other corporal punishment, this torture leads quickly to hallucinations and has long-term adverse effects. The prisoners can be kept in this state for months or even years, and once outside the room the psychological consequences will be permanent.“

The Saw

This is an imaginary scenery for which I mainly used my own field recordings and only a few synthetic sounds to represent the slow torments.

The bamboo torture is a torture method in which the torture is inflicted on torturers using a growing bamboo shoot or the tortured person is killed.
The victim is fixed lying down over a bamboo shoot, which is about to sprout from the ground. Since bamboo shoots grow a few inches per day and are strong enough to find their way through the earth between stones and roots, the bamboo shoots, once they have left the ground, penetrate into the body of the tortured person. This relatively slow penetration of the body causes the tortured person extreme pain and can lead to death.

In another application, the victim is tied to a chair without a seat and the tip of the bamboo shoot is inserted into the anus. The sprout grows in abundant water with pouring within two to three days into the body. This initially causes extreme pain and leads to death of important organs to death.

Bamboo Torture

Written for the Darksiders compilation for this year's Halloween season:

Popular with the Spanish Inquisition these little horrors were usually engraved with 'Abiuro'; Latin for “I recant”. And recant they did! Despite looking fairly inoffensive this little device is not only great for toasting marshmallows but is apparently all you need to get a confession out of the toughest of heretics, sinners and blasphemers. It’s actually quite ingenious and ever so compact. As you can see in the picture above the “fork” is strapped around the neck and placed with the sharp prongs just digging into the base of the throat and underneath the chin. The victim would be restrained so they were upright, either by hanging from the ceiling or tying to a chair. Then they were left. Anyone wearing the heretic’s fork is unable to fall asleep – the moment they did the prongs would pierce the skin causing more than enough pain to wake them up. After a few days of this torture they would be so sleep deprived that they’d confess to anything.
