They spoke of he who blocked the crushing sea of extinction in the depths of each night, shielding the fragility of life with the perfection of his brutal and efficient form. The eyes of the living only greeted each new day because of the immortal techniques that had now been passed to them, the new guardians of the beacon, masters of an art now evolved – watching, waiting, perfecting their deadly art… ready for the return of those beyond death.

Following up the immensely successful Karate LP from core Eatbrain artist L 33, comes a deadly second approach to some of the most blinding tracks from the album - reimagined by a collection of apex predators in drum & bass. PROLIX delivers an exhilarating and forward-leaning groove with his take on CLUBLIFE, whilst JOE FORD percussive prowess and intricate and on-point production pushes DROP IT DOWN LOW into dynamic and fresh realms. @CrissyCriss has combined forces with an array of artists; when it came to his ‘War on Silence’ LP, some of the producers he brought into the fray to deliver their sounds alongside his own finely tuned production skills proved the influence he has over drum & bass culture.

From his selections on the BBC Radio 1 tastemaker show, through to his quick-firing DJing skills which he’s been heralded for worldwide, Crissy has become one of the most talked about figures in recent times. His War on Silence imprint has helped him reach these heights in recent times and the label which his pivotal LP launched itself from and was named after represents the creative space he’s been able to build a catalogue of records within; the type that many drum & bass DJs have spearheaded as set favourites.

For Crissy’s next release, he’s about to deliver yet another merging of minds which shows why drum & bass is still one of the most indisputable dance music genres, decades after its invention. And long-time associate @TC takes centre stage alongside Crissy and lyricist Jakes to offer a monster record for War on Silence. TC has an illustrious career and just one look at his back catalogue shows just how imperative he’s been to the wider club circuit, as well as the record collections of many drum & bass fans. Their brand new collaboration ‘Dark Mode’ is exactly what you’d expect from the title.

The two heavyweights clash their indisputable power and bring through a record which is brooding, with sonic claws grabbing at you between its expertly fashioned segments. With a growling bassline, cranking breaks and fluctuating notes of bass, both TC and Crissy take a trend setting sound, then push it through their own signatures. There’s an old school, reminiscing air which carries itself throughout the record and it’s easy to hear the pair’s roots, something which has enabled them to build the foundations they have.

‘Dark Mode’ is the classic club banger, although through the scope of two artists that have been running the game for an intimidating length of time. War on Silence is back and they’ve stayed true to form with ‘Dark Mode’.

We’re two friends from opposite ends of the globe: Jeremy from New Zealand and Nik from the Netherlands. Body Ocean is us exploring dance music together. We met through drum & bass years ago, and became close friends when we realized we both loved a lot of the same things. We also love each others’ countries and culture; we’ve endured many long-haul flights exploring each others’ worlds.

As musicians, working on drum & bass for years, our curiosity grew towards different ends of the dance music spectrum. When we saw Green Velvet play and went to Dirty Bird parties respectively the vibe there was just so infectious that the music stuck its hooks in us. We realized there was an amazing sense of freedom there, which was reflected in the people on the dance floor. That musical freedom and ‘genre-agnostic’ attitude provided an exciting departure point for a journey of exploration. Much like at the start of an RPG game, where most of the map is still shrouded from view. Who will you be? What great discoveries await?

We’ve found influences in a multitude of sounds ranging from R&B to Eurohouse to Garage, and though we’re armed - or should we say burdened - with decades of production experience, this project is more about un-learning the rules than about technical one-upmanship. We want to let go of what we know and what is comfortable, we want to create new combinations and allow for as much eclectic experimentation as we can. We’re also intrigued to find a new expression of performance. To create euphoric high points and introspective low points on a dancefloor with a totally different aesthetic, and without the tropes we’re accustomed to.

To us, this project feels like the musical equivalent of rushing out onto the beach to dive headfirst into the rolling waves. Hence the name.

the three titan’s last collaboration ‘Kallisto’ on Hospital
Records taking the electronic music scene by storm last
summer with impeccable sound design and
mind-warping basslines, Camo & Krooked & Mefjus
have outdone themselves once more as ‘No Tomorrow’
plunges deep into the depths of twisted drum & bass
sonics.
The Song is part of the “No Tomorrow” EP which will
include an acoustic / classical rework of the song + an
electronica-based version. The follow up Single will be
released by the end of this year and the EP will follow in
January.
