Sven Laux on Klangscheiben-Records.  It is a real pleasure for us to publish a full EP from him. His unmistakable style is really special! A warm ambient sound-trip with clicking minimal sounds. When we heard the EP first, we thought “holiday depression” is very similar to Tomas Jirku´s music style. But also the other tracks are very amazing! It is fantastic minimal-music. A must for every funkyminimalambient-fan!! Also tilman&ling ling and demas have designed a remix for Sven on this EP. Enjoy listening!

Dancing with my shadow

Kicking off a new limited series on Circus Company, we return to JAW's solo project Midtown, which was released in 2014. Amongst the 19 collaborative tracks that saw the dOP vocalist sparring with musicians from all over the world, there was a spellbinding song written in conjunction with British singer-songwriter Piers Faccini.
“Traitor Creator” is a haunting track very much led by Faccini’s fragile vocal, with JAW laying down a subtle undercurrent of harmony. Meanwhile the delicate guitar tone and sparse percussion that shape out the song all lend themselves to a mournful, existential message. Even in the climax of the track, with its fractured guitar distortion, the Eastern lilt of the melody dictates a mystical atmosphere.
To frame the original track in a new light we called upon Nôze to deliver a remix. The pensive mood is maintained through a brooding low-end pulse, but the vocals are mixed to further accent the interplay between the two distinct singers. Using a stripped-back beat and threading in choice slices of the guitar alongside light touches of synth, Nico and Eze draw on the fundamental spirit of the track and take it to a new, equally captivating place.
Of all the tracks on Midtown, “Traitor Creator” was perhaps not the obvious choice for a club-friendly remix, but in such unlikely situations can some of the most captivating results be found.

It's always a pleasure to shed some light on an invisible nightlife heroes and to introduce them to a wider audience. Most of the time they do the biggest part of the job but write their names on the very bottom of the poster using the smallest possible font. Andrius more known to New York party goers under the name 'mscln' is one of those. He is a regular on the local Lot Radio where he invites a lot of his friends to participate in his show. Also, after moving to New York Andrius is responsible for the series of events called Rhythmic Discourse, one of the few with the best guests selection.

Young Parisian producer NiKiT bursts onto the electronic music scene with his debut release 'Arcanes', a mini-album consisting of 8 tracks. Its atmosphere is reminiscent of early dark electro, with a dubby touch, pulsating drive and underground techno feel - a real dancefloor cracker.

It wouldn't be an overstatement to say that Opium is currently the most talked about club North of Berlin. Vilnius based spot has built its reputation slowly but surely to become one of the brightest lights in the night sky of Europe. The club has earned the admiration of local crowd, loyalty of visiting artists and respect of industry insiders by nurturing unique local talent, bringing cutting edge House & Techno acts on a weekly bases, building a devoted community and rocking the parties of the highest intensity and unprecedented intimacy. Its no wonder Boiler Room and Resident Advisor both came knocking on the door in 2017 for special features and events.

2018 marks another milestone in club’s incredible journey: the first ever music compilation entitled “Opium of the People”, a rock solid collection of 13 unreleased tracks by core residents and the members of extended Opium family from all around the world featuring Tel Aviv’s producer and song writer Autarkic, Australia-born-Europe-bound New Age travellers Dreems and Kris Baha, Canadian smooth operator Thomas Von Party, Frankfurt’s Musikmaschine Lauer, German-Mexican studio encounter of Sebastian Voigt & Theus Mago, Berlin based Spanish fashionista Hugo Capablanca, Detroit legend Sharif Laffrey and Russian crate digging trio of Leonid Lipelis, Sergey Krylow and Ilya Simonov under the name of Plungerbird x Beard in Dust. Most of them are coming to Lithuanian capital’s hot spot so often, they could easily start their own fan clubs in town. The local talent also gets a well-deserved attention. Manfredas, Siaubas, Pletnev, and V find their place on the compilation and bring the modern sound of Vilnius nights to the vanguard.  

“Opium of the People” has been conceived and compiled by Vidmantas “V” Cepkauskas, the head of programming and resident DJ of Opium, a well-known contributor to the electronic music scene for nearly two decades. He has reinvented a friends-to-friends after-hours place into an international music institution in a matter of six seasons and is the best candidate to curate and present “Opium of the People”.
